And the article above says renovations could cost $50 million. If they can do all that for $50 million, I'd be amazed.

you say complicated, i say utterly impractical ... tomato, tomato. :D

you'd also likely be in some parallel dimension where the realities of architecture and construction and cost have been suspended ...

That's as impractical as air conditioning outdoor stadiums in the desert. That will never fool anybody... Oh wait, all they have to do is claim it will work and then pull something completely different when push comes to shove.

Everyone who thinks they know more than Rossetti, the stadium architecture firm that did those Silverdome plans, raise your hand.

    (Hint: None of you do.)

funny. i don't see any firms name on those drawings ... if i had to guess it might be because they look like the were done by a drunk one handed monkey on CAD.

if that is the sort of work that this Rossetti firm produces then yes, i'd imagine i know more than they do ... or the same ... nothing.

When did you decide to try to take over Mr. Warmth's role in this discussion?

Funny, Rossetti did the designs. What you see or don't see, or think you know, doesn't make pinch of shit's worth of difference, as usual.

these are architectural renderings for the new Pittsburgh Riverhounds stadium. it is going to be 3,500 capacity and cost $7M and the Riverhounds are a D3 club:

this is a brochure for Moston Stadium, a 5,000 seat stadium proposed for FC United of Manchester (a 7th division English club) for which they are basically raising most of the money for it themselves by saving their toothfairy money:

    http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/mcsf/FCUnited_Moston_A5.FINAL_LOW.pdf

now if the below supposed "architectural firm" rendering of the proposal for turning the decrepit Silverdome into some magical tri-stadium all for under $50M is real then i wouldn't trust that firm to design and build a treehouse for an 8 year old because by comparison the level of professionalism and quality is pathetic ... of course given the fantastical and delusional nature of the proposed project it hardly surprises me that the supporting documentation looks like something out of a My Little Pony colouring book:

Mods, can we move this to the expansion forum? This has very little to do with MLS at the moment.

Maybe we should combine it with other threads with the same image?

Point of order. There are no plans. Plans are not necessary for a conceptual rendering, particularly in SketchUp

awesome list dude. unfortunately that doesn't change the fact that A. the drawing looks like it was done by a 7 year old hopped up on pixie sticks and B. doesn't have their name on it anywhere as is typical for "official" architectural drawings/renderings.

and since those were my two points i am not really sure what your flapping your piehole about?

This. Those aren't architectural OR engineering drawings. If they were, they'd have the name of the design firm in the image.

    This, among other idiotic statements:
You wouldn't trust one of the most successful and accomplished stadium architects in the entire world because you don't like one set of drawings. Yeah, you're a smart guy, all right.

Now, let's hear your equally informed opinions on quantum physics and Sanskrit epic poetry.

You're not going to be annoying like all of those Earthquakes fans were right before they moved, are you? The ones who kept posting, "Earthquakes are 100% NOT moving, guaranteed." Meanwhile, the FO was packing the moving trucks, and they stayed in front of their computers neg-repping people who did not agree. We get that you want a team in Detroit, but it appears that most people don't believe it can be done in this form for this price. Just because there are some drawings and some made up price tag doesn't mean anything is going to happen. If it were, there would be a 40 team MLS with almost everyone playing in an SSS.

You're missing the point. I'm not saying that it's a certainty, or guaranteeing anything other than that those who think they know better than Rossetti what is possible are wrong.

Sure, the cost estimates may be low, but if the guys who own the Silverdome are willing and able to spend the money, MLS would be stupid to turn their noses up at Detroit as an expansion market.

As long as we're asking, you're not going to be like all of those people who were bleating "Move San Jose" for years before it happened, and then felt all vindicated when it finally did and pretended that it meant that they were smart, are you? If the Detroit expansion effort fails, it doesn't mean that everybody who thought that they knew better based on their inflated view of their own intelligence were right.

What you fail at understanding is that there were a lot of forums that discussed this renovation (remember this is an OLD picture), and some knowleadge posters said that this amount of effort would be cost prohibitive in a renovation.

Essentially making this work would be easier if they imploded the silverdome and builded this monstrosity anew.

It doesn't matter if Rossetti or my 8 year old cousin made this. It is impossible to do without huge concerns on the structural soundness of the building.

Great, you miss the point too. I don't "fail at understanding" any of what you posted, it just doesn't contradict what I said.

I love how you think that one of the most successful stadium architects in the world somehow didn't think of any of those "concerns" that posters on BS were smart enough to come up with. Contrary to what you might think, they do have a little more expertise of such things than an 8-year-old, even if you don't understand that.

These were leaked "LEAKED" is the key word here. They were never ment for the public to see so I am guessing this was for internal use and rough concepts. Once they release the real renderings it will show the who is the real firm behind it. Also who knows if these were even real maybe MCS just did them themselves. not that I think that just saying.
