Interesting interview by Melgar in regards to Lopez and Kevin Merida Lam. It's so weird that so many of our players are getting try outs this year. Lets hope they keep coming.

One week later, no follow-up of the "news" of Villa and Lima. Someone is trolling hard, it seems.

According to Lima's Facebook, Gerson is still on trial in Spain,

Yeah and according to my Facebook I discovered nuclear fission. Don't you think that the same media outlets from Guatemala that quickly brought up the news would have keep people posted, at least how his first training session went? In Spain, no one has seen him. The club certainly didn't confirm him joining for a "trial".

That's not the club confirming it. That's one of several unofficial sites in Spain that copied the "news" of his upcoming trip generated in our hemisphere a week ago. Still, no word from the club.

The guy even said to Cancha that his uncle helped him get the trial. How come reporters from Guatemala haven't called Gerson's family, just to see how he's doing? That would be a fast and cheap way to get more "news", no?

At best, I criticize the over hyping of this sort of thing when it's first announced but not following up to keep people informed, if it's true. At worst, I reprove the starting of these rumors, if they're untrue.

I think someone is trying to elevate the status of certain players by crafting "news" that link them to certain clubs abroad. Hopefully someone proves me wrong. If the guy really has Facebook it would certainly serve him well to post a pic of him in the beautiful Islas Canarias.

With regards to Carlos Villa, I noticed that the league resumes play on Feb. 25. That's a long winter break. Think we'll hear something by then?

The announcement of his departure was made one day after he had played (and scored) against Alianza on a friendly. Not sure what to make of that, but it's how it was.

If league play doesnt start up again until February that should've give him enough time to get some practice time in.

As for Lima, I have a feeling it may only be a tryout. But if he makes the team, that'd be a HUGE win for Guate.

i think Lima has a big chance on making it, he's young and is a natural goal scorer. The only thing that i think might damage him is his physical condition, but we'll see. I really hope he makes it.

I'm sure the kid's got alot of raw talent. Great pickup for whoever he chooses to represent.
