I've also heard that AC Milan are interested in OZ but I can't imagine they would want to pay much more.

That would be a no thanks on Noni.

If Rodrygo is willing to leave, the reported 90m euro would be very tempting but the salary demands make that tough. What are our reasonable alternatives though?

Rodrygo would be our most exciting signing since…Ozil?

We should move heaven and earth to make it happen.

Seeing another Partey replacement link..... Brentford DM Christian Norgaard. 11m euro per TM and slightly better in EPL than Partey per WhoScored. FBRef paints the picture of a true #6. Will start the season at 31yo so would definitely be a short term option.

Just came on here to rep the Rest is History recommendation. I believe you mentioned it several months ago and it has since become one of my favorites.

Dom and Tom are very nerdy/scholarly but quite funny too. I'm halfway through the nearly 15 episode (if you count all 3 parts they divided it into) take on the French Revolution.

Agree, some of their intros are hilarious! Just finished the Peter the Great/Great Northern War series, I knew very little about that so really enjoyed it.

Sorry to derail the thread, I really hope we get Sesko :).

Just saw a rumor that Sesko (his agent) is asking for a release clause in order to sign with us.

Not familiar with them but I've listened to Mike Duncan. History of Rome and then a follow-up Revolutions, which obviously featured the French along with 9 others. Well 10 more, he just finished doing the Martian Revolution, a sci-fi version presented the same as all the others, it was really good.

More on this...... Supposedly asking for a release clause that is roughly 20% higher than what we will have to pay Leipzig for Sesko. We've told him we don't do that shit.

Not a podcast but I used to love listening to the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show back in the day, what a funny group of people, especially when they had "Jay" as a guest.

Been listening to arseblog since day 1, my go to Arsenal podcast.

I'm a podcast addict. I'm always juggling between my 2 Arsenal pods, 2-4 Grizzlies pods, a few comedy pods, a couple wrestling pods, and 2 Frasier pods.

We were linked to him before we signed Partey, IIRC. Although I don't know how credible those rumors were either.

Just listened to them for the first time. I started out with the two episodes on The Rolling Stones. “Unfortunately” you’ve gotten me hooked on another podcast.

I prefer post match pods especially tactics based ones for matches, not always just Arsenal, to see if the "experts" saw the match how I saw it.

But as for transfers, I just follow the age old way. Don't believe it until its on Arsenal.com.

Unfortunately it seems that Sesko (via his agent) has negotiated himself out of a deal. Not only the sell on clause but also his wage demands are at or north of 200k a week. He's on 100k a week now. 200k may not seem unreasonable to some. I might cringe a wee bit but personally I'd pay it but keep the contracts for 3 years in case he doesn't live up to it.

We may be getting Gyokeres by default. If we do, I think he'd be a wonderful signing right now, this season. My only worry is that both the fans, neutrals, everyone is going to put pressure on him to score at a similar rate which won't happen. I don't care how many goals he scores as long as he scores the important ones: the opening goal, tying goal or winning goal as well as scoring against big rivals as well as assists. I'd take 15 of those type of goals than 25 goals where most are the 4th scorer in a 5-1 game and against the bottom of the table sides.

The "good" thing about not getting Sesko might have priced himself out of anyone's side and we can come back in a year or so and get another shot at him. Gyokeres will be 29 in two years from this date.

Sesko is going to explode as a talent. If we don't buy him now we won't be affording him in 2 years in my opinion. Its why so many want him now.

Can structure the wages as a huge signing bonus and amortize, and that'll make moving Sesko easier if he turns out to be a bust.

Billy Carpy's review of Gyokeres is interesting: huge risk there because so much of his production is him bullying overmatched CBs. He's not going to have a physical mismatch in England.

I haven't heard too many big clubs linked to him other than us. Tottenham, Napoli and I think Juve I read somewhere but I suspect Tottenham do what they used to do is go after our targets because our scouting is better.

If Sesko wants 200k a week, I don't see those stingy Italian clubs paying that. Highest paid player at Napoli makes under 170k, Juve only have 2 players over 200k a week. And Tottenham doesn't have anyone making over 200k.

I'm comfortable with selling Martinelli to Bayern if they offer a good price and we buy a dynamic player replacement.

No. Not unless we're getting Musiala in return.

We suck at executing transfers and can't do more than 2-3 a year. We're already trying to do 2 and having trouble getting those done.

Right then and there, any deal is dead unless his agent gets on their hands and knees and begs us to sign him.

At least that's how I feel about it.

Per Fab..... Gyokeres has informed Sporting that he wants to leave. His priority is Arsenal and then ManU. Arsenal have kept a dialog open but have been prioritizing Sesko.

Gyokeres has to know Sesko is favored over him. But if he's still interested then why not continue with him as a back up if we don't land Sesko.
