I'd like the price to go down, but this season has shown the need to have a 3rd option at striker in the squad. I don't think Arteta wants that to be Merino or Martinelli (if Trossard goes). Rodrygo would also fit the bill but way more expensive.

They only way Garcia makes sense is if they genuinely think he can supplant Raya. He is 3" taller, maybe they see him as an improvement against set pieces.

sometimes you have to hit refresh a few times to get the message to load

be careful, if you got to that site and request Gyokeres highlight videos, it might try to tell you about white genocide instead

Because Garcia has size and looks world class. He was an elite goalkeeper in La Liga this year. I kind of get it. Arteta was shading Raya in the PSG tie too.

I think Garcia replaces Raya eventually

Which I can understand but that brings more questions...... Initially we wanted Raya. Brentford wouldn't sell so we got Rams. Rams started to show cracks and then we were finally able to get Raya. We've had Raya for 2 seasons and while he has some flaws we have the best GA in the league and he has played damn near every game for us. We lead all but Liverpool by 10+ goals. Feel like he should be on the bottom half of guys we are looking to replace.

    Option A: Garcia for 20m
    Option B: Matt Turner-type for 5-10m
Option C: Karl Hein/loan/free transfer veteran for 0m

B is the worst option to me, would lean towards C over A. But if the goal is to win hardware next season, it's a big risk to put everything on Raya staying healthy. If Arteta thinks he can win with Garcia, then I get it.

Anything saying Arteta was "overruled" is clickbait trash. There is no way I'll believe we'll sign a striker that he doesn't want.

I tend to agree A or C (likely C) but I'm curious..... why do you think Raya won't stay healthy? Think he has missed maybe 5-6 games in 2 yrs for us. I realize he played a ton this season but getting a GK that can give us 10 games in all comps should keep him fresh.

He isn't injury prone, but all it takes is one bad fall, awkward landing, or collision.

Liverpool lost Alisson for 10 league matches and had Kelleher to fall back on.

As I responded to the headed goals issue, there's not much difference between the strikers. I also don't expect Gyokeres to reproduce those same goal tallies in the EPL. He also put up good numbers in the championship so he's produced good numbers across multiple leagues and playing styles.

I'd be happy with him, Sesko or maybe even Ekitike. I just think to disregard him because of headed goals is silly.

The question I have is does a striker like Solanke replicate Gyokeres form in Portugal.

Arteta wants Sesko apparently and the new sporting director wants Gyokeres. Either will put us on a higher level. With our style of play, I can easily see 20 goals ore more out of each.

That said, I want Sesko. He's 6'5", 21 years old. I see Haaland lite with better passing. Gyokeres is 25 or 26 I think, good size, 6'2", more of a pure scorer, but I think Sesko will give us so much more on set pieces and in low and mid block when we put in crosses into the box. Not that Gyokeres can't do that too.

Sesko to me is a striker who is already good and will fill out physically and be a monster.

I agree that either one will improve the team.

    Sesko is a better buy

I think if Sesko plays for Sporting. he scores same amount of goals and Sporting is a better team.

Bournemouth have confirmed Huijsen to Madrid. Never thought he was all that likely, but good news in that Saliba won't be going there this summer. Now have to get a new deal signed to avoid a free/TAA situation.

I keep seeing articles linking Arsenal with Rodrygo due to his discontent. It's likely nothing and just click bait, but if there are any legs to this Arsenal should jump on that.

Has potential to be a huge pickup but the rumored pricetag is €100m. Not sure he would bring enough extra value over some of the cheaper options.

I think Rodrygo might be expendable when xhabi comes in … and I think wirtz will move there as well

with rodrygo..there will be a huge price tag and I am not sure he fits into Arteta system

I know they’re different but I’d much rather have Simon’s over Rodrygo. Both would be good though.

Sounds like Xabi will manage Madrid in the Club World Cup next month, I doubt they let Rodrygo leave before that, using this as a chance for Xabi to figure out which pieces he likes before they sell.

That may be fine with Arsenal as there are reports that left wing is lower on the priority list and will depend on outgoings - probably Trossard? But it could also mean that they won't spend in fees/wages what it will take to get him.

I think with the needs we have this summer and the lack of depth we have in multiple positions Rodrygo won't bring enough to offset that cost.

If Williams fits Arteta’s system, Rodrygo fits. I believe he is the better player.
