Wouldn't be shocked if he was off the CL list so that come January we sell him.

If we were to sell him, we would have to feature him in the next few months. I'b be interesting to see how that'd turn out.

I wonder how he is training. He is supposed to be cleared to play in October, right?

We would love to have sold him over the summer but no one is buying an injured player. My guess is we won't be able to sell him till next summer.

But this may be a hidden benefit if he's available to play in the spring.

He is meant to be fit from October give or take, could easily see him loaned with an obligation in January.

Jesus is expected back in December/January according to Arteta’s prematch comments today.

Didn't see an Arsenal general news section so I'll drop it here.
Say it quietly but this could be the season where our goals against will be in the teens. Granted its early but if Liverpool away couldn't score from open play it must be a great defense. City is the big test. They are highly motivated from being embarrassed last season. Still, they its an away game for them and they won't go full attack. They'll play cagey like LFC probably and look to nick a goal off a mistake.

Still we haven't conceded a goal from open play so far. Yes, it 4 games but we are also a side that hasn't given up more than 2 goals in the league and if I am not mistaken (and I often am) in all competitions.

We just have to get our scoring in top gear and we are on the way.

Not sure I’m ready for a new transfer thread, but there are rumors we are interested in Semenyo. I saw a week or two ago that we are also “tracking” young Turkish and Juventus left winger Kenan Yildiz.

I doubt we have funds for either transfer, but Semenyo is Prem-proven, and Yildiz is only 20 and looks to have good potential.

I've been seeing the Yildiz stuff too. Juve want to keep him but they may not be able to afford to. Supposedly we are considering an offer of Trossard + cash for Yildiz.

I don't see Semenyo happening. There is a strong argument that he would be a good signing. However, because he is HG, prem proven and signed a new deal this summer, Bournemouth is gonna ask for a ton.

Assuming no new injuries and the injured are back already by January. What positions if any do we buy and if we do buy, any suggestions who?

Arsenal have a roster of 24 players, not counting Setford as the third goalkeeper or Dowman. If as you suggest the injured players are back by January and there are no new long term injuries, that would mean that 4 very experienced players would be left out of each match day squad. So Arsenal probably have to sell before they add. Most likely to be sold are Trossard, Martinelli, and/or Jesus. If one or more of these players is sold, then Arsenal would probably be on the market for a new left wing, with Yildiz at Juventus recently linked.

But, without new injuries, I think it is much more likely that Arsenal have a very quiet window, with the focus potentially being on adding to the academy.

Trossard isn't being sold - he just signed an extension and is a critical player for us.

    I could see Jesus going!

Did he sign an extension? I thought Trossard is on his old deal but we gave him a pay bump.

If anyone leaves its either Kepa or Jesus. Maybe a Nwaneri leaves on loan if he isn't getting enough time.

You are correct - they gave him a pay bump so he stayed

I brought up Semenyo in the summer because he's HG (like you said), can play on either wing, and has zero injury history, but no one was all that excited about him, especially at the 70m price tag back then.

He's on a heater now, it would be a mistake to buy high on him. Like what United did buying xG overachievers in Mbuemo and Cunha.

Bournemouth would be stupid for not putting feelers out for Semenyo. His value will likely never be higher than it is right now. They’ve already done a great job replacing their entire defense and somehow managing to improve over last season.

Brentford and Bournemouth both doing a great job following Brighton’s feeder club model while maintaining consistency in the Prem.

Semenyo is 25, has 6 goals and 3 assists in 7 games.

This season will be interesting because at some point odds are Bournemouth drop off just how we saw with Forest who over performed for much longer than expected, so when that drop off happens does Semenyo drop off with them or does he carry them?

He is 26 in January, so the next questions I have are
Is this his peak? If it is how long does he maintain it for?
If not, how much higher does he go? Or how bad is the drop off?

Not sure on his contract status, if he was 23 or 24 Chelsea would buy him next window. He feels like a Liverpool/Bayern purchase.

Bit different in that Forest’s drop-off was inevitable because they were overperforming xG to an unsustainable degree, where Bournemouth is right on track.

Bournemouth’s issue is that they’ve only gotten wins against bad opponents (Spurs are in that Forest mold right now, +8 GD on -1.4 xGD already, so I’m putting them in the bad opponents category results be damned).

We’ll know whether Bournemouth is legit or not in a month. They come back from the international break with Palace away, Forest home, City away, Villa away. If they come out of that with 7+ points, they’ll push for Europe.

Looked him up and he is an interesting prospect, had 14 goal involvements in 15 matches last season, looks to be legitimately two footed and is a majician with the ball at his feet. At 5’6” he could be the next Messi, but he could also be the next Fabio Vieira.
