Sigi will start benching players if they don't deliver.

My buddy that works for Anchutz told me that Sigi is not screwing around this year because his fat ass is on the line. He said if players don't start delivering the goods expect them to lose there starting position.

I think for starters we need to experiment vs Tecos and have Ngwenya start at left wing replacing Sasha Victorine. Then we need to tell Peter Vagenas to go ride the pine and give Marcelo Saragosa a chance as our devensive midfielder. Also if Ryan Suarez could finally take some Ridilin and calm the ******** down and stop making idiotic mistakes. Ryan could hopefully turn into the awesome defender he should be and he could replace Bo.

I think we have what it takes to become champions but we needs to put the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together because the time has come for the guys to start fighting for there positions.

I don't think Sasha is very high on the list of problems at the moment///

Uh, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that what coaches are supposed to do when players fail to produce?

The problem with Sasha is he brings nothing to the table except mediocre play. Victorine is barely an average player and I think Ngwenya has much more talent and could probably blossom at the left wing position with his speed and his ability to take people one on one.

The bottom line is these guys need to be more effective with better passing and the ability to read the game better. For crying outloud did anybody see how horribly Chris Albright plays? The dude sucks man and I hate to come off as a negative guy who say everybody sucks but this is the pros man and if you don't have a good first touch and you cannot make a pass, how can you be effective in helping the Galaxy win another title. I don't think Chris Albright is that serious because I have seen the guy at night clubs downing shots and smoking ciggs back in the day with Ezra during the season a couple of times. And I am not BSing!!! I have seen Cobi out and the dude is always drinking a water. Not dowing shots of Patron with a Marlboro in the other hand.

    You'd think...

Then recall 2003 and you'll remember how Sigi's favored few were locks for the starting lineup, regardless of how poorly they played game in and game out. This mindless devotion to favorites could still raise its ugly head before the season's done, but let's hope that Sigi does indeed feel that his job hangs in the balance and that he can't afford to not make changes if starters aren't pulling their weight.

So... lemme get this straight. You know someone in the Galaxy organization, you've seen Chris Albright and Ezra Hendrickson drinking and smoking, you've seen Cobi Jones in public enough times to say with confidence he's always drinking water, you comment frequently on Galaxy players' performances (but always in less detail than you get out of an average MLSnet match report), and you don't know whether or not Galaxy fans have any chants at all?

Does anyone else find anything odd about this?

Or wrapped in a bacon dog cholesterol haze...

Just a thought: Has anyone ever seen Manchester Unizzle and Rampant Berserker together, in the same place, at the same time? Didn't think so.....

I've never seen Manchester Unizzle build up a head of steam like Rampant, who goes hell bent for leather when he latches on to a topic. I understand the suspicion, but I'll risk the chance of having the wool pulled over my eyes and say that they are two individuals.

Which is really funny, cuz I know a bunch of people who DON'T work for Anchutz (whoever that is) and say the same thing. In fact, most of them are posting here on this board. Can't you go post on the frickin' Man U board? I'm sure they'd welcome you with your insights into Nicky Butt's mediocrity.

There is NO way in hell Sigi will or even should start both Saragosa and Ngwenya at the same time in the next few games. Ngwenya really hustled, and he's gonna be potent, but you don't start a midfield full of frickin' rookies!

Well, I brought this up a couple of threads ago. So you're saying that Unizzle's Freudian fixation on Arturo Torres' demise isn't a bit extreme? Even if they are different people, they seem to post with the same low IQ.

Guys, I have to say the rookies would do much better than the below average losers that are starting. For instance if your starters are not producing the goods like Sasha Victorine. I don't think it would be a bad thing to replace him with one of the hottest rookie prospects this year in Joseph Ngwenya who could possible be this years Damani Ralph? Regarding loser number deuce Peter Vagenas the guy is below average and I don't think it would be a problem replacing him with a guy who comes from one of the most famous club teams in the world Sao Paolo. I am sure Saragosa would do fine. I am sorry if I come across like a jerk, but the writing is on the wall man. Produce or take a ride on the pine.

Another note I said last week that Herzog was slow and Arturo Torres should take his weak ass back to the PDL and they proved there worth against DC United. They both sucked ass. I think Herzog has an upside if he can get in better shape because he obviously has skills and tremendous experience playing for Bayern Munich but don't get me started on Arturo Torres. That guy is no better than some of the Mexican guys I play soccer with at Rancho Park.

So... I think it's getting more and more obvious you don't know the Galaxy. You're advocating replacing Victorine, who has been mostly a defensive player for the last two seasons, with a goal-poacher??? It's also been fairly clear you're not watching the games. Herzog may not be fast, but you're the only person I know of who's claiming he's out of shape. He's been running hard every match, both preseason and regular season, since he arrived, for almost every minute he's in. The observation in the previous post seems to be based mainly on speculation on BigSoccer before Herzog actually showed up!

No kidding! What a brilliant concept! What will they think of next: releasing a player if he continually fails to produce?

Personally, I do feel that Victorine should be benched. I have long felt that he does not belong in the starting 11. He has always been a defensive liablity and I for one do not ever see that changing. How many times do you have to see someone run by him as he hopelessly tries to reach out and grab him. How many times do you have to see him look lost marking grass. How many time do you have to see the opposing teams wings and/or backs make runs with Victorine no where to be found (See Earnie Stewart on DC's goal). In short, Victorine is horrendous... but as Sigi showed Saturday when he moved him to d-mid (now that is an Oxy Moron), he will always find a position for him so I don't ever see him being benched.

i don't think we should necessarily fly off the handle for one game. we came out very flat, and DC came out raring to go, it happens to the best of teams. what showed character, imho, is our ability to salvage a result that we really didn't deserve and almost sneak the win. having said that, if 2003 wasn't still fresh in my memory i would write off the lethargic performance to LA having an off day, but as it is that performance was worryingly familiar.

at this point i don't see the need for drastic or massive benchings, there are a couple though.

peter should definitely be benched. he lost something after that injury at the beginning of last season and apart from some brief flashes here and there doesn't look to be getting it back anytime soon.

broome looked terrible on the night, let tyrone start.

i thought torres looked really bad, put cobi back in there to start.

The point is we won the first game and everybody is all excited thinking we're on the the MLS Cup no problem. We fortunately played a very, very bad Revolution team and still gave up 2 goals. Winning tends to hide problems.

First of all, as many suggested in the first game, Herzog is not the 2nd coming. I wasn't impresssed in the first game and definitely not in the second. Being out shape does not hide his lack of creativity with the ball. He isok, bit nothing special.

In the first half,we did one of 3 things over and over and over again:
    1) Kick long ball and pretty that Ruiz would get it. Didn't work.
    2) Kick to feet of Kirovski and Ruiz, praying it woudln't get cut off. Didn't work.
    3) Defnse and mid gave the ball away in thei defensive halfm which is why DC attacked us the whole time.

We ned to start suingtehmiddle of the field. Every play can't be in the air or down the wing. Damn, it looked like AYSO out here, I was embarrased. If Herzog is so damn good, use him in the middle to distribute, get away from the wings so much. Opne up sapce inthemiddel,so Ruiz and Kirovski can make diagonal runs and the our mids cam make some forward runs.

Overall,we play scared and let a 14 year old make us look like 10 year AYSO players.

So screw the idea that we are ok. We are not. Bench Pete. Bench Albright. Bench Arturro. Bench Sasha. He is ok, but nothing special. Trade Broom. Teach the defenders to pass to our team. Use Herzog in the middle, He drifts too much to the wing and crowds himself.

Ruiz is awesome and works his butt off, but give him a chance. Get out of the air. get the through balls on the ground though the holes for Ruiz and Kirovski to make diagonalruns, not over where defenders have the advantage.

Use the rookies. The season is young. It couldn't hurt at all.

I had a second viewing of the game and one things stands out most in my mind. DC flat out HUSTLED all night. They won nearly every 50-50, they swarmed our player(s) with the ball, and even if our guy got it off to a teammate with three DC uniforms converging, the outlet player had a DC player immediately in his back pocket before receiving the ball. Are we all certain that DC played with the regulation 10 field players? Did the Galaxy get a red card and we all missed it?

DC seems to have a mindset that they have something to prove this year. I expect them to do well and cause every team problems. That same attitude should be equally as strong in the Galaxy camp, but it clearly wasn't. Sigi needs to nip that lackadaisical approach to the game in the bud.

Yeah, forgot to mention it in my post-game thread post, but if definitely looked like DC was more fit. I remember while watching the game thinking how out out of shape our team looked compared to DC. Even when you take Herzog out of the equation, it seemed that their team had more hustle across the board. It wasn't until the fresh legs came in (Marshall, Cobi and Ngwenya) that we showed some life...I guess not coincidentally those are three of our faster players...

Sasha: 2 Games 2 Assists. I'm all for him being benched if he doesnt produce, but so far I think 2 assists in 2 games is producing quite well.

i totally agree, if you look for my post-game comments from last week i said we looked shaky, and pre-game comments against DC i reiterated my lack of confidence in the team.

still i don't think two games are enough to make realistic assessments. let's see what happens next week away from home. as far as i'm concerned that's going to be our first real indicator as to how good or bad this team really is, and how sigi has changed if at all. though full credit to the man, we were a goal down at home and he takes off our d-mid to bring on a striker and it paid off. last season i think we would have seen a serna for moreno (or vice versa sub).

i would like to see grabavoy get a shot next week if duke has an off game again.

Was I the only one who thought Sasha was one of the best players on the field against the Revolution?

Although, I thought Victorine played OK, much better than I hav come to expect from him... I would hardly call one of the best field players. Do try to bear in mind that for much of the game he was matched up against Heaps, hardly a strong defender.

Allbright sucks plain and simple. The guy has never been good..he's always had potential but he never reached it. That is why DC got rid of him, he just wasnt good. Albright could have the ball at his perferred foot, with no goalie in the box, no defenders around, and instead of scoring he would most likely end up kicking the ground and break his leg. He just didnt work out as a professional end of story, it was time to give up on him three years ago; now it's just plain funny he's still in MLS. When I think of MAJOR league soccer I dont think of a player like Albright in it, cut him, he doesnt deserve a spot on an A-league team, let alone MLS, if you cut him that's step one in the right direction.
