So I'm strolling around the Sounders multiverse and after a seven regular season game winless streak, it seems like the natives are restless. What does everyone think of Sigi's status with the team? I think we all know Sigi's history(winningest coach in MLS history, 2 MLS Cups, SS, long and successful history at UCLA), but does this 7 game streak and three one and dones in the playoffs make Adrian pause and think about the success Schmetzer had in USL and whether the team could be more successful with him at the helm?

I definitely don't think he is on the hot seat, but he might be on the warm seat. I think the players are in place for the Sounders to be significantly more successful than they've been this season, but, for whatever reason, they just aren't getting it done on the field. Obviously it is still early in the season, the Sounders always go through a slump and finish strong, and with how the MLS playoffs are structured, regular season performance doesn't mean much, but if the winless streak continues much longer, I'm not sure how much longer Adrian can justify keeping Sigi with Schmetzer waiting in the wings and getting more and more interest from other teams around the league.

I don't think it's even warm yet. If the poor form lasts another month or two, then sure. But I think the slew of injuries gives him some leeway.

But yes, this native is restless. Personally, I think we had better pick up a good signing or two during the transfer window.

I want to see one of the players on the field show some leadership. This has been sorely lacking the last few games.

I dunno.. 2-3 months Adrian might as well wait until the offseason...

If the situation continues, and that is a big if, then I think he will wait till the off-season. Having said that, Adrian knows this is the year we vote, so I'm not sure how that would play into the situation if we continue to slide.

For now I'm going to wait and see. We've been streaky before (don't know if there is a correlation with Montero's streaks). It's just so bloody hard to predict how this team will do sometimes.

Oh my god. If Sounders even thought about firing Sigi, we'd easily be the biggest joke in the league.

After their win, xpd seems assured to stick with spencer/wilkinson for another year.. as much as it sucks to lose to a rival, cursing them with perpetual mediocrity is a very nice side effect.

This is silly, no where close to hot, Sigi has done an amazing job with this club. MLS is a parity league and you just can't win them all, well at least not for very long. I think a few of our players are getting "soccer" old due to age and repeated injuries and have lost a step. I think the pressure is on Hanauer, who is great so let's not start that poll, to keep juggling the salary cap balls, and give us that competitive edge. Tiffert?

Not worth posting this poll. We'd have to play sub .500 the rest of the season and miss the playoffs and then miss the playoffs next year before he'd lose his job.

but, doesn't sigi have a couple more years on his contract anyway?

also, i dont see AH doing a midseason coach swap.

I think he signed a 3-5 year extension midway through last season.

If Sigi gets fired this year, Adrian will not get my vote.
I don't want somebody who easily gets panicked to lead my favorite team.

Not on the hot seat but there is a sense of panic in the Sounders which is A. Uncalled for. and B. Down right odd.

Yes the team is playing below par. Yes the DPs need to step up... But the problems in the Sounders world is they lack a pure goal scorer.... Montero is NOT the player up top that the Sounders should be wasting DP money on.

Flaco and Rosales may have defects but are 2 of the best in the league if Sigi will allow them to play 90 min more often.

The Sounders need a Forward and a player IN ANY POSITION that just has cojones! B A L L S! A screamer, a Diego Lugano, a Veron a player who just leads and takes no prisioners.

The Sounders are a good team but they are a bunch of softies...

Seattle does not need a forward. The problem is not up top. Seattle are both having a backline issue and a midfield issue.

Sigi fielded a few questions about whether or not he was on the hot streak during the winless streak.

Weary am I of this talk of a sh**ty backline. Granted, in a couple a games, horrendous. But you cannot say they are the problem when the Sounders are second best in the league as measured by Goals Against/Game Played. (second only to SKC).
Offense, on the other hand, similarly measured by Goals For/Game Played is currently 11th in the league - behind Montreal, New England and Colorado. If the Offense was as good as the Defense (second in the league), They would score an average of 1.89 goals per game and have a goal differential of by now +17. They would be crushing the rest of the league.

Forwards are only as good as the service to them. Poor service from the midfield and well the forwards aren't going to score.

Exactly, this is why I see this as a Mid-Forward problem, not backline problem. Too often I see our mids or wings get stranded - cut off with no support, no one to go to... It is this interplay/connection that we have been missing most of the season - very little one touch, very little give and go. Responsibility for this does not rest solely on this mid's shoulders. The forwards need to help make those passing opportunities available, not just park it in the box and wait for dinner to be served. They need to work together to create the opportunities as a team. I have seen glimpses of this in the past 2 games. Lets hope for more.
