The fee wasn't the issue, De Jong just didn't want to join. Smart lad.

I guess the point isnt wrong, but at the same time Barca doesnt want him and are putting a lot of pressure on him to cut his salary. The fans are also on his back as well.

I think the issue was that he willingly restructured his contract to help Barca during the pandemic and now they are paying him crazy wages to make up for it. Barca don’t want to pay him those back wages if he leaves, they want to be sneaky and get out from underneath them. I think he would have come, but also doesn’t want to forfeit millions of dollars to do so. Barca can get ********ed, I’d feel the same way.

fair but the overall point stands, it was a waste of money.

that was MacAllister, Gravenberch, Timber, Szoboszlai, Doku, Cunha, Tonali, Kudus, even Lavia* money in this league alone.

those are all players that would have added something we needed. we picked the worse choice somehow.

i'll give him a bit of time but i was against it from the start

Following Villa game, Maguire (calf / protective boot), Mazraoui, Mainoo and Garnacho (knee) injured and have all been forced to pull out of representing their countries.

    So it begins …

Rotation my ass in the Villa game. Garnacho confirmed it's been a couple of games he's had the issue.

Something happened in that locker room at HT I think.

I think words were had involving Rashford.

By whom, I'm not sure. I don't think EtH would pull him for an semi injured Garnacho over a defensive mistake(s). Not unless Rashford said something in return.

When I hear about injuries and it evolves Internationals like this I usually think it's a player's kind way of telling the international team manager can I sit this round of matches out I'm a bit tired or I've got a knock. I don't think it's more than that. And sometimes it's the manager not wanting to hear about why he didn't select a particular player so he uses that guys injuries so that everybody is on the same page.

The Maguire and Mainoo injuries are face value I think - Maguire was clearly in pain and has a recent calf injury history. Mainoo also was sent for a scan on his hamstring after the Spurs game and EtH said he had an issue pre-game Porto and was an unused sub.

Maz injury there is not much news on. He has been forced to play a lot of minutes though with Dalot having to cover LB.

Garnacho a strange one. Not good to be playing someone through injury. He has been having his knee visibly supported. That strapping is often for patallofemoral pain (runners knee) which I have had (is pretty common) and is annoying.

I was listening to the radio and there was a rumor being spoken of, of a bust up. That or Rashford has allegedly lashed out or something of the similar note. Havent been able to find anything yet though.

He was close to red with the way he was playing. Stupid yellow and was lucky to avoid 2nd.

Might make Dalot happy, gets to go back to RB, while we force... Martinez into the LB role?

    Start Slab and De Ligt?

    So, 2 of our 4 big summer signing had known medical issues;

    - we played the guy with a known metatarsal injury pre-season games until it bust causing him to miss months

    - we played the guy with a known heart issue every freaking game until he had to be sidelined a few months

WTF are our medical department and management smoking??

exactly why i have been pushing for a different LB for years. and people have me down as a Shaw hater (although i think he is overrated quite a bit).

aside from improving the quality, the availability was always questionable. at least for what we're claiming we want to do.

and now here we are. one FB away from crisis for the entirety of this season at the very least

It's clear for many years that Shaw needs replacement or at least an adequate backup. Shame the double leg break has ruined his career.

I read it's palpation, been going through GAD and OCD myself so palpation can really make you exhausted and out of breath at times. It's crazy we signed him with this sort of medical history.
