Hojlund injury being reported by most outlets as hamstring. Yoro injury being reported by most as ankle. EtH said the usual - have to wait 24 hours etc.
Rumours are the Yoro injury is serious and he's set to be out quite awhile. As in, we may not see him back until the fall. Hojlund sounds much more hopeful.
Even with a protective boot he cant put weight on it and needs crutches. Suggests ligament damage so for sure a few months plus rehab it seems. Leny Yoro spotting at UCLA today after Manchester United training… on crutches, in a boot. Not good looks— hoping for a speedy recovery. #MUFCtour #ManchesterUnited pic.twitter.com/UsDmzAnxdo— Ryan (@rdeeb00) July 31, 2024
🚨 The information regarding Leny Yoro's injury is vague at the moment, but three to six weeks out is the expectation. Rasmus Højlund's injury is "just a minor twinge". [@INSIDERUTD1] #mufc pic.twitter.com/J9NtiMHkho— The United Stand (@UnitedStandMUFC) July 31, 2024 Still a blow..
Neil Custis of The Sun claiming Yoro injury is metatarsal and he will miss first 3 games in August and be back after international break mid-September. Crappy source, so who knows? A metatarsal bone issue is preferable to ankle ligament, however only missing 3 games seems very optimistic. We saw with Licha when he did his metatarsal he had recurring issue from coming back too soon so was actually gone for a while.
Marca reporting that an issue with his metatarsal was picked up by PSG in medical tests for Yoro and that along with fee was why they didnt move for him. The article says we and our medical staff also aware but signed him anyway, so we knew was a potential medical risk to be managed …. Would link the article but is in spanish. If true is not a good reflection on our management of medical issues. We managed to eff up and extend Licha metatarsal injury and also brought Shaw back too soon only to lose him for an extended period. Hojlund being thrown into a start and getting injured same game after only one training session was also poor management it seemed given the usual caution about match fitness.
FFS We need De Ligt fast. This young Martin we signed from Arsenal would now be our 2nd choice striker.
alright easy on the hyperbole. injuries happen and everyone has to deal with them. the new kid isn't second choice either. Rashford, Wheatley even McTominay or Sancho would play there before he does even if it's not ideal
But panic and hyperbole is what we do best at BS. I think Wheatley has a chance, but I was hoping we send him on loan.
More injuries, this time Rashford off which looks like ankle injury and Antony had some discomforts not sure what but Rashford is another big blow.
Romano reported that he would be with first team squad and will be called upon if needed. Apparently this enticed him to join us along with doubling what Arsenal offered.
And, of course, Shaw is out until at least mid-september with calf injury. Amass may actually get playing time early in the season
well he can't cry about the fans comments this time round. the optics alone warrant criticism. i'd be fine moving him on. he's overrated and unreliable
Victor Lindelofs wife posted on instagram with a video of him on crutches struggling and a caption about "everything moving in slow motion these days" or some such. So chances of selling him this window look like zero and out of contract next summer. Hopefully he gets better soon and at least be backup CB given issues in a high-line with Maguire etc. Also explains given Yoro, Maguire and now Lindelof injury status why we had to get De Ligt.
What a huge surprise …. 🚨🔴 Mason Mount will be out due to new injury.“During the last game I picked up a minor muscle issue. I’ll be out for few games”.“I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be, I felt sharp and ready”.“I wanted you to hear it from me how frustrated I am”. pic.twitter.com/RIgvzfdaIi— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 29, 2024
and remember we paid £60m for this which we were told was a steal because chelsea really wanted £80m. could have added £10m more and gotten de Jong who actually excels at something
Yep, as a club we really need to learn the lessons. Mount had a really poor 22/23 for Chelsea (24 games 2 goals 3 assists in EPL) and had 3 different injuries Jan 2023 to May 2023 so missed a bunch of games. Also not selected for a bunch owing to his poor output. The concerns a bunch of us had over the signing were well founded. All that crap about how good he is at running around and appearing to press (people made the same comments about how great Mata was at running around - despite it being mostly meaningless). Still we bought him and worse paid him huge wages, supposedly in the hope he would discover previous years form. Peak Glazernomics. Proof that EtH _does_ need oversight on his transfers and cannot be fully trusted in this respect. Again helped out a competitor with a problem. We better not dare pull the same move with Sterling ...
