We still have a Cup final to play so quit talking about trading this person or that. We still have every chance to win a trophy. And let's face it. We have already done alot better this season than any of us expected. So let's focus on the 24th and stop whingeing about who didn't try hard enough.
Eggy is right. We lost, but we still have a chance for a trophy. Let's go beat the ************ outta LA.
I think after the Revs series, it's obvious that Jeffy is most effective coming off the bench in the 70th minute...because that way he can dribble all he wants but the defenders will be too tired to keep up with him. It's too bad that he doesn't like it: He may have elevated his game during his time with the Crew but he still has yet to show the consistency, passing ability and decision-making to be a 90-minute player. I think if Andrulis brings Jeffy off the bench, we send Fat Sigi home without a trophy.
Sure we still have that game to play, but I don't see how that means we can't look forward for ways to improve our team for next year. I just don't see why that would be offensive. Now the talk of the league being fixed, or the refs costing us the game, now thats just sad. It makes us sound like a bunch of San Jose fans.
Re: Re: Shut up for a second Well, based on the letter circulating on the boards about officials told to not following FIFA rules, that actually might be evidence of fixing... ...however, that's still no excuse for sounding like Quakes supporters.
I hate to mark out, but let me say this, next season I really do think we'll be the team to beat. Our biggest weakness won't be on the field it'll be on the sidelines. First, our back line, Denton and Dunseth have looked something magical the last month of the season. Torres has been hurt. McCarty, I truly feel and will stand by this, we've not seen the best from yet, he'll be better next season than he was this season, although with the exception of the first month here I don't think he's played that badly. Last but not least, the guy I have penciled in at RB, Chris Leitch, I have no idea why he didn't play down the stretch, but he's a starter, and longterm stalwart in my opinion. Martino gets an entire offseason to train with our staff, Mais looks like he's still got another two or three good seasons in him, Dunc has looked great as a midfield terrier, and can smash the ball from long range, our wing play while not great has not been bad at all. On the front line, you gotta be pushing for buddle to make a quick recovery and get training immediately after his injury is over, McBride will be back, Cunny will more than likely be back. Buschie, you can't say enough about this guy, he's certainly my early vote for alternate captain of the side, he's got an engine that has never seen the off position, and is a great leader that keeps our defense in the proper position. You gotta feel pretty good going into the offseason, as Crew really only need to draft for one or two positions to increase depth. Trophy or no trophy, I pefer trophy obviously, this team is in great shape. Now if we could just find a gaffer that could put all this together...
And not to keep yakkin' on a thread asking us to shut up, but... Add to the above mark-out: both Dante and Perez at points this season came off the bench and contributed when called upon. How quickly we forget some clutch Dante goals and JWP's open cup semifinal performance.
Sure you can look to changes to be made to improve the squad. But we will definately have Jeff and Mais in the Cup final so you better back them for that!
Zak, You have to give this much to Andrulis: He has not been afraid to make changes. After all, he's pulled McBride TWICE from a match, along with several other changes. As for Torres, I'll consider him worthless until he uses his skills as a defender instead of tugging at opponents' shirts as soon as steps on the pitch and stops regularly drawing yellow cards. You have a point on Denton and Dunseth, they have played well. As for McCarty, I think the book is still out on him. Leitch has played extremely well and exceded all expectations. One other thing: As mentioned previously, if the International allocations are gonna take up space on the pine, then sack 'em and bring in some more young Yank talent.
