I have grown to like this signing. Slabhead is not the kind of player I like but I think he’ll have an influence similar to Bruce 2.5 decades back and hopefully play a similar role in turning this club around.
Great signing. He has the the right mindset and tools to succeed. I was always impressed with how balanced he was on the ball when he played for Hull, and kept following him. Time to move on from Smalling (who has been a huge disappointment) and Rojo. Keep Jones.
why keep Jones? at least Smalling stays fit. giving him a new 5 year deal was utter stupidity. probably all that 'when i was at the club' hype. there is zero upside to Jones. toss all three as far as i am concerned
I'd be surprised if Ole was especially involved in Jones re-signing, given he was still caretaker at the time.

Few random thoughts - should have happened 12 months ago, once a target this window should have happened months ago (was always going to be at the top-end with Leicester - nothing has been achieved by waiting) - good to have a CB who has regularly played left-side for club and country - will have played with Shaw his side for England which should help (given Ed has given him zero pre-season with us) - will be good to finally have some threat at set-pieces / corners again (have had far too few goals from CBs last few years) - has good feet for a big CB, decent range of passing too - like how he often steps up higher and gets involved as a passing pivot (useful against teams that bunker where CB's can sometimes feel surplus) Nice pic to chose to sign off with at Leicester Clever picture choice from Maguire to sign off at Leicester: Scoring a goal that helped prevent Liverpool from winning the league assures him of instant popularity among United fans https://t.co/5ANimuNcFP— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) August 5, 2019
When your son dreams of playing for Man Utd as a little boy and you wake up one morning and it’s happening #dreamscancometrue so proud of u ❤️@HarryMaguire93 pic.twitter.com/duVvQ4Vyf9— Zoe Maguire (@zoemaguires) August 5, 2019 Our new signing's first day at #MUFC 🎬 pic.twitter.com/LbK1MBABEX— Manchester United (@ManUtd) August 5, 2019 Time to forget about his price. He's a much needed signing who will make us much better at the back. As previously stated, our back 5 looks legit now. And the guy, like James and Wan-Bissaka, wants to be here: that has to count for something and hopefully it will show in his play.
Awesome thread title (lol) and thank you for editing my (autocorrected) misspelling. I like this signing of for no less than it keeps Smalling and Jones off the pitch. And contrary to what others believe, I feel that Maguire is a significant upgrade over both those players. Hopefully he and Iceman can create a synergy ala Rio-Vida. The play out of the back should be sexy (oh wait, I forgot who the rest of the team is).
Posted on another Maguire closed thread, if fergie was incharged we would have got him for £4million. Just shows how poor our scouting and rest have been. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-transfer-news-united-2264842
No point bitching about the fee anymore or the better options available. Hes a United player, our best CB, fairly young, allows us to play from the back better, and most importantly really wanted to play for United. Hopefully hes great for us and solidifies our back line.

I seriously think he’s mixing up Stones and Maguire. Stones was responsible for all three goals they gave up in that match (with a couple horrendous errors).
Think Van Der Varts fledgling pundit career will be short lived. He was obviously confusing McGuire for Stones
Just another dumbass ready to go foot-in-mouth criticizing the flavor of the month. Carry on, United.
Maguire already making a difference. https://www.skysports.com/football/...manchester-united-debut-showed-his-importance Indeed. What impressed me was not only that he put in a top performance today, but he made it look so easy in the process. Looking forward to see how good he can become after some time and familiarity with the other players on the team. Mourinho called him a rock and it fits tbh in every sense: the Rock, Big Rock whatever and just want to see more of what we got today.
