what situation? you think that the ussf is concerned about what a bunch of twits on some soccer web site continue to bicker about?
like i said on another thread, fifa uses passports to verify players ages, a la bobbu convey in the u-20 qualifing. adu now has a passport that puts his age at 13. its not a forged passport, its official. so no matter what happens, which i dont think anything will. i dont see how the ussf could get in trouble.
As I understand it, there are two different possible tests of age... 1) Wrist fusion Usually around age 18, a couple of bones fuse together in the wrist. So for a U-17 competition, it's a decent way to get a yea or nay. There is one big problem, however. The average age of bone fusion depends upon a person's race. 2) Bone density For kids whose wrists haven't fused, bone mineral density (BMD) is another possible indicator. However, BMD also varies according to race and has an even bigger problem. When you exercise, it increases. A high BMD could indicate that a person is older, or it could indicate that the person is in great condition. You can't draw any firm conclusions.
I've got information from a reliable source that states that Freddy is an android who was created in Los Alamos. His real age is 3.
Why would he need a wrist scan to play on the U-17 team? Everyone on BigSoccer who has actually seen him play has said he doesn't even look like an 18 year old and once you see him you can tell he is only 13/14. Even if it is done (and as someone already posted there is no reason because he is officially 13 according to the US government) it wouldn't matter if it showed he was 15 or even 16 because he would still be young enough to play for the team. So please stop starting these idiotic threads about his age.
EXACTLY. We can finally end these threads about his age. As far as the U.S. Gov't thinks, he is 13, he has proof now in the form of a passport, case closed... 13 it is.
Plus, who in the hell give a rat's ass??? Clearly it is high time that the season starts. Some (no, all) of us have too much time on our hands. Time to return to our respective stadiums...
Is it any worse than your "I know something I can't tell anyone thread"? I suppose that it doesn't matter anymore since he's got the U.S. passport, but it could definitely effect his development ceiling.
If that's what you thought it said, then I suggest Sylvan Learning Centers - they've helped millions with reading comprehension - surely they can help you too. We're rooting for you.
This isn't going to say anything conclusive about Freddy. All you'll learn from a wrist scan is that he's not 18.
I'm trying to muster the proper levle of derision for this idea...I don't know if I can adequately state how absurd this is...either the idea or your sense that questions over his age might somehow be getting out of hand. Just 'cause a bunch of bigsoccer nuts refuse to believe.... We have Freddy's age as verified by both the governments of Ghana and the US. That's 2 sovereign states, your not gonna get more clear than that. We have fact. You want some ethereal Truth (and apparently you won't accept any truth that doesn't coincide with your belief on this issue)...philosophy class is down the hall...
One could fit in well with the Long John Silver impersonators that played the English Gynecologists Association in a Monty Pyton skit oh so long ago. (Or something to that effect)
And it keeps getting more bizarre ... Now we have a poster who is bloated with contempt, yet can't understand the simple distinction between a person's official birthdate and the date that a person was actually born. That's a little more basic than philosophy class, bud.
Someone claims he's already had a bone scan: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=736364#post736364
I saw him play 1 1/2 years ago at the Regionals. At the time he was playing U-15 as a U-12 (I think he had just turned 12). If you had asked me I would have said at the time he was 14 or 15 - therefore age appropriate. But 12 was not out of the realm of possibility - but he would have been 2 std deviations above the mean for physical development. Personally, I think it would be too coincidental for him to be two standard deviations above the mean at both physical maturity and intellectual maturity (ie skipping grades) so my personal opinion is that he probably is 14 or 15 now. SO WHAT ? Its time to leave this age thing go. FIFA does not accept bone scans as the ultimate test of age so its a non-issue. He has a US passport that says he's 13. For all intents and purposes he's 13. He clearly is not overage for the U-17's so let it go. As for the development thing (ie if he's really 15 or 16 he won't develop as much as if he's really 13) - I don't think its an issue. I may be in the minority who have seen him live and think he's older but once again - ITS TIME TO LEAVE THIS WHOLE AGE THING GO.
And the question I have is - wouldn't the age 18 bone fusion thing just the be the norm or average? Don't some people finish those things up earlier and some later? Just that way some kids are done growing at 15 but others keep on going through college?
