Should the 4th of July match be played at the Rose Bowl?

Seeing as how the Galaxy ALWAYS draw a huge crowd at the Rose Bowl for their 4th of July match and fireworks extravaganza, wouldn't it make sense that for at least one time each season they stay at the Rose Bowl and entertain 80,000+, instead of trying to pack it all in to the 27,000 person HDNTC?

I think it would be a nice little jolt every year to see just how many more people attend due to the increased popularity of the team in LA after they get a little taste of that Victoria Street atmosphere.

It also would seem to make financial sense.

    Thoughts?

No, keep at the NTC. Make it the hottest ticket in town to have.

nope. victoria street is our home.

i have a feeling that a sellout at victoria street will garner just about as much as a 50,000 showing at the rose bowl. we've only ever pulled more than 60K twice.

the rose bowl is over. thanks for the memories.

This is a strange thought, but have they considered whether the roof will prevent us from actually seeing the fireworks on July 4th at the Home Depot?

Logistics: No roof over north end (Lalas Hill) so fireworks could be set off there. I suppose if you were seated in the very last rows the roof might cut off part of the view, but for the bulk of the stadium the north end would be an open shot.

The G's will be making more money at a sold out NTC than they will at a soldout RB. Nope, all matches at the NTC.

Call me crazy but I actually go on the 4th to see the match. I'll take one more close-to-the-pitch, real homefield advantage game at Victoria Street thanks.

I agree I go for the match not the fireworks. I hope its at the HDC not the RB.

Didn't we also just have seven great Galaxy seasons at the Rose Bowl as well? The only thing that was missing was a packed house - something that's provided pretty much consistently one day out of the entire season - the 4th of July. The Rose Bowl with a full house is a GREAT place to watch a match. It's a place rich with history, even having hosted a World Cup Final. The match will be played either way and I just think one time a year it would be a good idea to be played there since the crowd is consistently over 50K. The atmosphere is always awesome for the match as well on the 4th of July in Pasadena. It just makes more financial sense as well to do it once a year back in the old digs...

I've wondered the same thing about 4th of July. And I wouldn't mind going to the RB for that game only.

As for the Roof blocking the fireworks, if they were to be fired from the north (only side with an open view), the location of the fireworks could be a problem. I don't know the pryotechincal math involved in placing fireworks in an optimal spot for firing to create a great view, but if they need to be some good distance from the stadium then using the north end limits the space available for the fireworks. If there is enough room at the new stadium then thats cool. I'll go to the game anyway.

Even though I love our new home, the RB was our home and for one game on a holiday it might be nice to stop by and say hi and remember our roots. Hell make it a retro jersey game too and bring back the original jersey. So we can see that we've come a long way baby.

Yes the crowds were always large but they were also largely uninvolved in the game. This was the game you could count on people walking in and out in front of you for pretty much the full 90. That and a good portion of the crowd didn't even show until the second half.

100,000 people will be there and sit on grass outside of NTC for free :D So you can bring blanket sheets and panic for fun.

I hope City of Carson let vendor sell popular jumbo hot dogs with bacon like they did at Rose Bowl for quite years. Japanese-American Pasadena Health Inspector trash unlicensed vendors like ice cream, hot dogs, etc... in trash for violation of no cold, not water, no ice, fungus and more for no reason. So I'm glad Gals move to new NTC in Carson.

He is most rude and nazi jap!
