I've had this crazy idea for a while now. With the reality that our beloved team may get sold and move to another city, would it be possible to have the final played at the oldest soccer stadium before MLS deems it obsolete ? I know it's not a SSS but many of the worlds greatest have played there. Just a crazy thought -

I doubt MLS would want the negative attention. They're probably also hoping the Quakes miss the playoffs so there's less attention on their move/contraction.

If it's so substandard that it may cause the Earthquakes to be moved, why on earth would MLS stage its marquee event there? MLS and AEG in so many words have already deemed the facility obsolete.

That would also imply that MLS has any shred of respect for its two-time Cup holders. They don't...and our performance on the field since 2001 has been a constant source of consternation in the league offices...how can they squash the franchise that's at the top of the table?

Nope, it's HDC for the forseeable future until there are enough SSS scattered through the league to begin rotating.

I didn't think the Quakes biggest problem was the stadium, I always thought it was the attendance.

It's gotta be at an SSS......thats the most profitable scenario. If it's profitable for MLS, i'm ok with it.....even though they are gonna take our team away.:(

The problems are multiple. Attendance is part. Stadium condition is a part. Revenue to be derived from parking, concessions, and suites is a big part. There isn't just one "magic bullet" to attack. Attendance gets the weekly pummeling on the boards so that's what everyone percieves as "the" problem.
