Huh? For most of the CCC participants their seasons just ended, their preseason start early next month...... MLS' "offseason" is the shortest of all American Pro Sports Leagues. Even for teams who didn't make the playoffs, their offseason are at most 90 days.
Not sure Leagues Cup being played in front of 1,500 disinterested Mexicans in January is something Garber wants us to see. And a Leagues Cup at that time of year would play second fiddle to CCC, which Mexican teams actually win. A Leagues Cup in the US during the latter stages of the World Cup on the other hand I think would be a huge draw. Fans get to watch a couple of big games on TV during the day and by Saturday evening they're desperate to go out and watch live footy. The Copa doesn't seem to have affected MLS attendances negatively, quite the opposite. MLS average attendances during Copa 24 (some were midweek) Jun 28/29 25,003 Jul 3/4 25,932 Jul 6/7 21,001 (1 missing) July 13 20,956 July 17 22,686 July 20 24,100 Season average 23.346
When CCC starts other leagues are around week 5-7 while MLS is still in preseason or about a week off from starting. Who cares when other US sports leagues start and finish. They don't compete in International competitions against other leagues.
