Im not saying move the Franchise, but who thinks Columbus Crew need a new owner after they Blow the Zurawski deal, which would have only helped our league? I hope Don Garber can see this.
As angry as I was when I first heard the news I've already gotten over it. HSG didn't want to pay more than $500,000 (in all likelyhood the didn't want to pay more than $250,000-$300,000) for him. Larissa (sp?) were willing to pay $980,000. Which for a player his age and recent production is just too much. Before this saga even started they said they had other DP targets. I guess we'll see.
This thread has an all-time dumb title. (And for the record, no. At least not for not making a signing happen.)
hell i was really surprised to read that he wasnt coming. What message does this send? If anything this is good for the league to show we are not just going to bow down to a player who is on the way down.
Since MLS owns all contracts how exactly is it the Crew's fault Zurawski didn't come? You can't promise someone the world to players, you have to maintain some self control and authority. While the Crew may of been in discussions with him ultimately the league pulls the trigger or plug on all deals. To be honest the Crew never publically acknowledged an interest in Zurawski. We never know what goes on behind the closed doors of teams. We never know what is discussed, what is agreed on, disagreed on, what is truth, and what are rumors. I think it's absolutely assine to think a team should sold based on a player not being signed. That is narrow minded and thoughtless. DC United did not get Veron. Do you think they should be sold? NE and RBNY couldn't get Figo? Do you think they should be sold? Come on use common sense. Deals break down all the time. It's the nature of professional sports. What a team wants a player might not and visa versa. Shit happens and players and teams move on.
What Columbus in MLS is, is to Nashville of the NHL. They just shouldn't even exist. It's the same for KC.
