This is a good topic. Let's face it. Cardinal Stadium sucksssssssssss big time. The Chicago Fire front office are seating their assess out waiting for Soldier's Field, instead of working in a new stadium project. I hated last year when MLS teams were at ESPN2 nationwide playing in that plastic yard, which is a big embarrassing for the league. Chicago should relocate the team even in a NFL stadium in another state. I know Chicago fans will hate to read, but next season they are planning to play in the same crap and will start the season with 5,000 seats once again. This is disruptive and should not be tolerated
umm what would you suggest doing for the ~2 years it takes to transform soldier field into the spaceship on the lake? we have a pretty damn good lease for that place, so moving to a different city for 2 years would just have alienated fans... especially if the other city would have kept the fire and chicago would have simply gotten another new team try thinking, it goes a long ways
Yeah, but why are you guys so dependable in the construction of Soldier Fields that in the very end will be too big for a Soccer team. Remember that Soldier Fields is not a not a soccer specific stadium. It's a NFL stadium. Start acting and build a f**** new soccer specific stadium. Try to depend on your own personal/political/fan effort and not in the NFL. We want ALL MLS teams to dump/leave NFL alone and send them home packing.
why don't we fold MLS for a few years until the league finish building each team its own soccer specific stadium.
i'm taking it that you mean that spartan stadium is an sss then and that the quacks out attended the fire this year i'm also taking it that you have no clue about the entire process of the fire being where they are, or that aeg is committed to the galaxy, metros and united before the fire i'm also figuring that you couldn't come up with a reason why d.c. might be ahead of us despite the fact that chicago is the 3rd largest market in the country quit spouting crap and start thinking
While not a fan of Cardinal Stadium, at least we put butts in the stands. In the immortal words of Red Foreman, this guy's a dumb ass.
I got some extra money in my stocking this Christmas ... I will be heading up to Chi-town next week to build a new SSS. All I require is a live virgin, naked and ready to go, in my room every M-W-F by 9 pm. That and a lifetime supply of Diet Coke and cheese puffs will get you a new stadium.
This thread should be closed...Chicago Fire relocated, please...this could be one of the top 5 stupidest posts by one of the top 5 stupidest people i've ever seen..
Maybe San Jose should be relocated. At least people come to our games, you ************ing troll. Well after Monday, she wouldn't be a virgin anymore. Maybe Jimmy Carter could build us a stadium. Tell him there's 15,000 homeless people in this area who need a a house with a yard in the middle of it.
You guys took things this post the wrong way. I was just trying to make a valid point, but some hypocrite uneducated guys in here started to insult and I never insulted anyone. You all know that I have a valid reasonable point. Let's stay away from NFL stadiums. But Chicago is looking forward into Soldier's Field as the solution for all of their Stadium problem. Bunch of narrow minded.
Maybe you were narrow-minded for saying that we should move a team that doesn't have an SSS yet. Name me a city that wants an MLS team with a stadium built just for them already jackass.
Good one. Besides, even if it only did fit 5K we could fit the entire Earthquakes crowd in there and then some.
hmm of the 3 teams that did the best financially this year... 2 of them were in nfl stadiums.... k.c. and n.e. i think you need to focus your efforts on the leases and efforts of the front offices... if you don't bother to even consider those, you shouldn't be doing much in the way of talking about the stadiums
There is no way that they can get SSS for the whole league in the snap of someone's fingers. Things like that take time and money. It's not just "POOF!" SSS appears in front of your eyes. It is ridiculous calling the people in this thread uneducated just b/c they think it is absurd to relocate Chicago b/c they have to wait for a renovation. Maybe they think SJ should move b/c they'll have to share Spartan Stadium with a football team for part of the end of this coming season...
You can have live or you can have virgin -- naked and ready to go is not a problem. After all, we're talking about chicago. Diet Coke comes in extra flavors now. I recommend lemon with all those cheese puffs.
No, the Fire aren't looking at Soldier Field as the 'solution for all of their Stadium problem' [sic] - but right now it's pretty much the only option that there is right now. There have already been a number of attempts to build the Fire an SSS, most recently in Arlington Heights, but they all ran into unexpected roadblocks. You wouldn't be saying any of this if you actually understood the stadium situation in the Chicagoland area, so I suggest that you take a trip into the Fire forum and look at some of the many stadium-related threads from this summer. They may prove very educational.
ft. LAUDERDALE, LOCKHART SSS, 21000 SEATS mls LOGOS, still there. JACKASS.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but, we dont want to pi$$ on anyones parade... just send, top 1.5 bench polishers, from each team, HUDSON, and a hard working operator.
I am at a loss for words, but I'll try to find some. Ok, Cardinal Stadium isn't the best spot for a MLS team. But moving the entire team to a new city just because it doesn't have SSS doesn't make sense. Right now, the Crew and eventually the Galaxy will have their own place, and hopefully each team will in time. But stadiums cost money...something that these cities aren't looking just to throw around. Mayor Daley has shown support for the sports of Chicago in a tremendous way. (Well, except for that whole baseball strike thing in 94, but frankly, we all agree.) And I can see his support coming for a stadium in the years to come, but for now Soldier Field was his major priority. The Bears had to take some hit with the move to U of I with their fan base. We cancelled our tickets. With any situation of remodeling done, there are consequences, but you learn to deal with them and move on. Cardinal Stadium hasn't been completley horrible attendence wise, either. I believe the Fire was the first team in MLS history to sell out a game the day before it was scheduled to take place. Nevertheless, they did it four times in a row. And that's something like 15,191, I think. That's pretty darn good for the stadium being exactly where it is. (And yes, I live in Naperville, and can correctly comment on what it's like here.) I think I remember seeing the MLS average attendence having San Jose as 10th in the league with something like 12,000. But, enough of that. It's a rough time for the Fire, but the fans have been great about making the best of it, and looking foward to our return to Soldier Field. Bethany
