FCD reserves, featureing Mark Wilson, is playing tonight at 6:30 at UT-D against Dallas Speed SC. Speed is a PDL'esque (they are not in PDL) team made up of some SMU and West Texas A&M players taht was put together by the WTA&M coach. admission is free and it's a good cahnce to see Wilson as well as some texas talent to keep an eye on.
I think this would be a good time to mix in some of the starters with the reserves, to keep them sharp during the off week. Maybe split halves or something along those lines, so they aren't playing more than 45 minutes. The rest that this off-week provides us is going to be good when we go to NE next week, methinks.
Not a bad middle 3 for a reserve game huh? I wouldn't be too unhappy if I saw that (middle 3) starting for FCD.
4-2 FCD 17' - FCD Thompson PK 25' - DS Smith FK around wall 31' - FCD Thompson steals form keeper and scores 43' - FCD Wilson (Woods cross bounces around) 45' - FCD Moor (header, Wilson corner) 76' - DS Chun (Fender)
I thought our middle three should have dominated a lot more than they did. Maurin struggled a few times. If this is all Wilson is going to get before August 15, he is not going to be match fit. It will probably take him a game or two to get up to speed. Even still, I liked what I saw from him today.
I was happy with the way Wilson played. He played the simple intelligent ball and never seems to be caught out of position. I liked the way he would take a quick touch and spread the ball to the fullbacks so they could spread the field and start the attack. I was disappointed with Nunez last night. He didn't really separate himself from the Speed team much less the other FCD reserve players.
