Folks, you won't believe this, but I just called my local sales rep at Cablevision and actually ordered the MLS Shootout package.

The nice woman said, "Yep, it's right here in my computer. $49, correct?"

Let the floodgates open! Call your Cablevision sales rep NOW! It's available!

Congratulations on mobilizing to get the package. It's a shame they didn't offer it from the start. You guys need to keep those customer service numbers handy though. I know from experience with Adelphia that when they add packages like this late in the season there can be significant problems.

Done. 1st sales rep was a dud. I redialed and 2nd rep knew about. If the rep you get seems ignorant, hang up and redial.

The other thing you could do is ask for a supervisor.

    $49

you get around 100 mls games... of course, starting a couple of weeks late, you will have missed out on a few... but it's still fairly close to 50 cents a game if you break it down

You're talking digital cable, right? Not the regular cable I have.

Digital cable required. Besides digital cable brings you Fox Sports World standard.

I signed up yesterday afternoon. I checked my cable stations in the morning and MLS shootout was installed.

It wouldn't be BS w/o a complaint. The problem I see is that each game is on its own channel which means that if I go to GS to see the Metros (which I do), I need a separate cable box and vcr for each recording. Life is tough.

OK folks. Sign up time, especially all of you in Long Island! Call your cablevision rep. It's only $49 for the entire season.

yes everyone should sign up to it and show your support when you can. It's worth the price no question about it .

Also get your VCR ready i practicly have to tape all the games. ESPN 2 has a 4 pm game, then i rush to the Stadium, when Metros play away i'll get to see more of the games, but it's worth every penny

I was going to ask - are any of the Shootout games replayed later at night or the next day? I have the same problem, since I only have one box.
Even if the answer is no, there are plenty of mid-week games that make it worth it.

After a little confusion, I now have the package. I called and spoke to a sales rep. He didn't see it in the system and transferred me to customer service. They didn't understand why they were getting involved, so I went back to sales. I eplained that it was brand new and asked for a supervisor. Before he transferred me over, he decided to check his mail and sure enough he had an email about it. Once that was straightened out, he was able to add it onto my package.

So, if you guys have any problems, tell the rep to check his email :)

Not sure about the cable box you have, but on mine you can set a "VCR timer", which changes the channel for you, so as long as the two games aren't on simultaneously you don't need two VCR's. You might be able to have the cable box interact with the VCR somehow but I haven't figured that part out yet.

Wait, MLSnet is saying that the Colorado game is on FSW, and the Chicago game is on the shootout. But for some reason, the Shootout preview channel on Cablevision is saying that the Chicago game will be shown at 10:30 p.m.

    What's correct?

Looks like 2 games at 7:30 and 1 game at 8:30. With the afternoon game at 4pm, we have access to 4 out of 5.

Has cablevision done any advertising for MLS shootout? How are non-BS soccer fans going to find out about it? I hope the announcers on MSG make mention of it.

Cablevision should also be commended for having 4 soccer-supporting Spanish stations in their lineup. Univision, Telemundo, Galavision and Telefutura. Now if they could only add FSWE.

Each area may be different. In my area it is Telemundo (16), Telefutura (17), Univision (18) and Galavision (29). The guide will tell you what it is in your area. I do not think the satellites have all 4 unless you order a special "spanish" package.

    Galavision

You're right. It depends on your area. In Westchester, Cablevision does not have Galavision.

Yeah, I just checked my line-up here in Jersey and my area of Cablevision doesn't have Galavision either.

And it's a shame, too, because Galavision is showing most of the Confederation Cup games this summer (or do they have the Gold Cup? Which is it again?) .

Hmm... Might be time for another round of phone calls to Cablevision. :)

If you call mention that in Long Island Woodbury/Islip, Galavision is available on 29.

Here is the link for all the different cablevision lineups:

    http://www.cablevision.com/customer/service/t_channels_new.html

I noticed that in my area on 5/28 they will be moving Univision from 18 to 6. It doesn't seem to make sense but what I think they are doing is giving certain channels that have a history of bad reception (19 and 71 for example) to programs that are less lucrative.
