Ok i have adidas estavelo shinguards and i can't stand them, they don't stay up even with tape, anyway i was wondering what you all use for shinguards and to hold them up...also i was wondering if anyone knows the deal about nike shinguard stays, thanks

What I do is tape my ankles than put the shin guards in, this way it gives them a barrier they can't go past.. a force field if you will... :D I dont know what to tell you if tape doesn't work, but I do have the new bigger nike guard stays, and honestly I don't care for them. I wear them over my tape, but not alone. I have SCRAWNY ankles so maybe that's my problem. when I wore them alone without tape they did keep my guards up, and prevented my socks from slipping. It serves the same purpose as tape pretty much.

ok well i end up spending so much on tape cause i tape over my socks and i guess it just isn't holding, can you get really long type spandex sleeves to wear over your socks, like what c. ronaldo used to do

Ronaldo just wears normal white sports socks that are ankle ones and takes the top of the socks to his football socks with white tape.

A couple of my friends have used those guard stays and both of them have said that they dont think much to them so they went back to using white pvc electrical tape. Funny thing is if you look closely at those pics on ebay Zidane and co are wearing tape?????

they just look like elastic stitched together!! How would you know if they fitted your ankles i cant see any velcro on them. Take does work but you shouldnt use too much of it!

Yeah, tubigrip is great for holding shinguards up. Someone on here mentioned them so i bought them and they are awesome. I believe some pros use them as well.

I have J Guards and I don't even use tape, they just stay up most of the time and on throw ins or whatever sometimes I'll pull them back up. Tape bothers me because it always peels off.

Its like an elastic bandage thats like a sock that you can cut to different lengths and you can get them in different sizes. Just cut it down to the side you want slip your pads down it and hay presto they dont budge!! :D

Personally i believe they are. Its just what you find suits your game best. But they are light weight and you can wash or just bin them after a game.

nike make official guard stays which are a hundred times better than using tubi grip. I stumbled across them in a sport soccer store (UK) and no1 had ever seen them before...before i knew it half my team were askin me where i got them from...lol
Theyre just strong durable elastic with velcro straps so you can adjust the tightness with a black nike tick on the front..

Yeah ive got some of those but still prefer tubigrip. A lot of pros use tubigrip to keep their pads in place. I usually just use my tubigrip and a little bit of tape. I cant be doing with sock ties to the tape is just to stop my socks from gathering around my ankles more than anything.
