was at hillsborough for the soton thrashing. good atmosphere in the grounds, as well as at the pub (despite seeing sheff utd get the late win in the championship's late match). "stand up if you love wednesday", rather than "stand up if you hate the blades" for the first time in awhile. the wednesday fans i know are definitely up.
So Dave Allen's gone. Glad to see the back of him, but I'm nervous about what he might do on his way. If he demands his money back he'll probably put us in administration, which would make things kind of dicey. Maybe still worth it!
just heard myself. i can't help but be excited, but knowing da, he's so unprofessional that he's probably going to call on his loans just to spite the swfc fans.
You don't want admin mate....that 10 point deduction would be a killer. After you've done so well to make a come back from L1 & a dodgy start this season.
I agree, though in our case it was necessary and has done the club the world of good, despite the 15 point deduction.
I thought Dave Allen was a really talented comedian and I was sad to see he passed last year, probably one of the funniest Irish comics of all time...maybe yours is a different Dave Allen, yeah? Sorry, 'bout that.
I'll get ya yer coat. A couple of years ago somebody on the Newcastle United board made a post about 'Freddy'. That board had never been so busy, as the Freddy Adu fans rushed over to see what the latest news was. Alas, it was only another snarky comment about Freddy Shepherd, NUFC's chairman at the time. A few days of amusing commentary followed...
It's the big one this weekend - Wednesday take on the old enemy, United. Pleased with the Wallwork signing, he's the sort of aggressive midfielder our team has been crying out for since the days of Sheridan - Whelan's more of a playmaker than a hardman. Slight doubts as whether the game will actually go ahead due to weather conditions but I'm pretty sure it will. Fingers crossed.
it looks much more likely now that they've finally covered up the pitch. i've never been a big fan of bacon, but i might have to cook some up saturday morning.
Well, it wasn't just Wednesday. There were about 6 matches off due to frozen pitches yesterday. All across the north. The groundskeepers had apparently been running the undersoil heaters since Sunday, but they couldn't keep up. b. (glad to be in California, where it's raining but not freezing.)
yeah, and as i understand it, there's a few extra inches of turf that the heater has to get to because they laid the new pitch directly over the old one last summer... because of time constraints.
not a patch on the 6-0 thrashing at reading (i was at that one, by the way - dire) a couple weeks back. came right back with results, though. granted, 'ouch' is something with which virtually all wednesday supporters are intimately familiar. but brian will have the lads ready to go come the next one. they'll bounce back. full marks to sturrock, by the way.
we're shit when we play away. we might be in the top half of the standings, but our goal differential is tied for 24th, i believe. terrible.
So far: In Tommy Miller - Ipswich - Free Darren Purse - Cardiff - Free Out Sam Liversedge - Released Kenny Lunt - Released Wade Small - Released
Rumors are rife that we're getting Freddie Sears from West Ham on loan for all next season. This sounds like a good idea to me - young, hungry striker. Remember when we had Agbonlahor for about 3 seconds?
