Agreed, though to do that, we need to get the ball though the midfield quicker. Part of that is more deliberate passing, and part of that is Colombia's physical disruption.
A disappointing half. Colombia is NOT good enough for the USA to give this much respect to. Also the USA is playing MUCH too slow. It is like they are playing for the tie rather than pushing for the win. One of the lowest player (as far as speed of play) Is Yohannes but Rodman is also playing slowly as is the rest of the front line. Colombia is not near good enough to deserve this level of respect. I hope Hayes either make some changes or really chews the team out because what is on the field is not nearly good enough. I had a chance to hear Hayes really lay into a team that was underperforming several years ago and that team upped there level in the second half and won something like 4-1. I expect something similar for this match. But I doubt that Colombia has enough good players to even score one if the USA plays even close to their ability. This reminds me of some matches under the previous coach. Slow and conservative.
And it looks like they are playing under water. Still s...l...o...w but it does look like they are trying a bit to play faster. I would sub all the front line players the rules allow as soon as possible saving only one, just in case. This group is simply NOT getting it done.
Moultrie and Shaw talking to Hayes getting read to come on. From the hand gestures, I think Shaw is coming on for Sentnor.
You don't suppose that Hayes is reading this board? Those are the players that I would have subbed. They have all been playing slowly and taking unneeded extra touches.
Another case of Heaps being lazy and unnecessarily being caught offside. That was just a stupid play.
Disagree. That was A Thompson not finding her and the ball being slowed up. I think Heaps made the right run, even on continuation. Yeah, she was offside, but it sets the expectation of what should be seen by the other players.
A quick shot is not something they have be talking all match. Yeah, the show was wide, but she let Colombia know what to expect, which then sets up the cutback to the line.
Heaps might be one of the two or three slowest players on the field BUT she plays fast. It would not surprise me at all if she scores.
That was some nice passing between A Thompson, Sears, Shaw and Heaps. That one Heaps needed to watch the offiside.
She's got great game intelligence, but when the match is quick, she's a hindrance. Today she fits right in.
Noticed that Caicedo has had to do a lot more defensive duties for Colombia this half. It's really minimized their attack.
