Hey, Parkhurst dropped his head! This wouldn't have happened if he hadn't put his head there. Great pic, btw.
2 game suspension http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...3/artikel_parker-fehlt-mainz-zwei-spiele.html and his coach and GM are still complaining about what they deem to be a bad call.
Parker scored in the 2nd minute and played 70 total today in Mainz's 2-3 loss to Freiburg in the DFB Pokal cup.
The good news is Parker started & got 80 Bundesliga minutes in a 1-1 draw vs. Fortuna Duesseldorf yesterday. The bad news is goal.com gave him 2 of 5 stars & named him "Flop of the Match": http://www.goal.com/en-ie/match/82386/f-düsseldorf-vs-mainz/lineup-stats
I know this was a while back, but I can totally believe this. There's a misconception among players (even at the pro level) that a foul has to be intentional or malicious to earn a red card. Players, especially pros, should really read the LOTG. To think that this is their job, and many of them don't know the basic rules that regulations...
So who are the other 18-20 year old attackers in the bundesliga at the moment because that's going to be parkers direct competition for basically 1 open spot on a germany cup team over the next decade.
Don't flame me, but I really don't think we need Shawn Parker. We are developing some killer forward depth, and a lot of promising youngsters. If he comes great, but if not I'm not losing any sleep
We might not "need" him, but the bigger our pool is the better. You want every "starter" to be pushed to keep that spot. I'd rather have 10 prospects rather than 9.
How many 19-year old bundesliga attackers do we have? Honestly we have none in france, spain, italy, or england either. To much hope is being put on our 15-year olds right now.
Look, Parker is a great prospect but all signs point towards him sticking with Germany for the foreseeable future. He's eligible for the 2015 u21 Euros and is one of their brightest attacking prospects. Whether on not he makes the senior team is up in the air, but you've got to think he'll stick with them as long as he keeps being included in their youth national teams and then a few years after that too.
Yeah definitely one for the future, don't see any chance at a switch before 2018 unless he just completely falls off. I'm still confident he'll be ours someday but he's doing really well for his age and if he keeps improving at this rate (he'd be one of our better players right now imho) he might actually have a future with Germany beyond youth level, which sucks for us.
He might get a call from Löw for the trip to the US. No Bayern/Dortmund forwards, no Klose, probably no Podolski, no U21 Euro players; Löw has to invite players without any future in his team, or some younger players who don't play in the Euros.
