Why doi many soccer players shave their legs? Is there an advantage to this? wind resistance or something?

Shaving your legs is for road cycling, rowing, taping or if you are sick of getting mud stuck in leg hairs...wind resistance...LOL

I doubt the Portuguese national team is gay, including many Academy teams such as Sporting Clube de Portugal

I know a lot of swimmers that shave their body hair to reduce drag. but, for soccer it would make no sense, as you have socks and shinguards over your legs. the only thing I can understand for it is that, much as bikers do I believe it is, by removing the hair it reduces bacterial buildup from sweating.

    Lala Land

    I might also add:

Unless your going to keep on shaving those legs it's gonna be a pain not worth it. If you play on field turf it's gonna leave some marks if you tackle a bit like me ;)

I see the point, but it's just pointless unless you have hours to spend on looking at yourself in the mirror.

Some players do it but i hardly see the point unless you do the following for functional usage:

    1) play with no socks or shine guards and like to slide tackle alot. Your sweat will make you slide easier and a bit further.

    2) You play on a crap field, it's easier to clean the crap off of you or..

    3) You don't shower, don't shower often, or have bad plumbing at your house. Bacterial build up and BO will be significantly less compared to if you had hair (or simply just hairy like an ape). If you play a lot of games and really don't like to shower, it will definitely rid some of that odor and slime that's on your body (just wipe it off).

I cannot believe it has so many explanations..
