They lost at home 1-2 to Eibar and are out of the Copa del Rey. Shaq got a yellow.

if you’re asymptomatic - I was exercising (in isolation) very hard four days after testing positive, and I’m sure I could have played at nearly full speed that day.

Did he get benched after the failed sale, or was it the other way around?

Tough spot here. Mellot has been outstanding at RB, and Tenerife is battling for promotion -- so lineup changes are unlikely. Also, the Segunda season is scheduled with only one match per week, so there is no need for the mid-week rest. At this point, Shaq seems to be limited to minutes off the bench and a spot start if Mellot gets injured or has too many yellow cards.

The alternative, I guess, could be that he goes back to RW like he did two seasons ago when things looked very similar in terms of minutes at RB.

Which is good news. Clubs put messages like that into circulation when they value a player and believe that he will reclaim his place, or when they suspect that his buyout clause is about to be triggered. It's a ritual dance in Spain down the years:

"X is not for sale! Definitely! Categorically!"

X's buyout price is met and the player agrees.

"We really, really didn't want to sell him but our hand was forced."

He has a chance to go from "25 year old valuable sub in the Segunda" to "26 year old valuable sub in a relegation candidate in La Liga."

Definitely out of favor at this point. His best games were as winger, the guy was very accurate with his passing (in 19/20 he managed 3 assists in about 10 games played as RW, which was a good number for a team like Tenerife, lacking in finishers).

Then they moved him to a RWB position where he was still ok, and eventually moved him to a traditional RB role where he was poor. Like Dest, this is a guy who lacks the proper positioning of a true defender.

And now he's bench. Shame, he could have been an asset for them on wing.

Are they still in the promotion hunt?
