It's their first game in a three-club short tournament, the Cida de Pontevedra. already in its 42nd edition. The three teams taking part are CD Tenerife (second division), RC Deportivo (second) and Pontevedra CF (third). The tournament is known for allowing teams to give a chance to youth/reserve players to show themselves. More info:

They lost the first game today against Depor 2-1.

Shaq played the second half in what seems to have been an ugly 45 minutes vs. Braga's B Team. Tenerife was out-scored 3-0 in that half, and based on what I could find, Shaq also conceded a penalty.

He played the final 35 minutes. He most likely will start the Segunda season as Luis Perez's backup at RB.

A continued tough going for a Yank in a Latin league.

Shaq’s Game has limitations, especially for Spain. But hey, huge credit to him for making his way and sticking. Huge credit for continuing to push. This is probably my favorite YA thread because it has all been so unexpected (and he will always get to see he lined up against Messi in La Liga).

Well, he's not going to face Messi in the Segunda, but at least he's going to face Rubén Castro, who may be 38 but still scores some awesome goals.

On the bench at Elche today. He has yet to make his Tenerife debut, but has been on the bench for all 6 of their matches thus far.

Trying to break in the hardest market for a Yank, Spain. A brave and misguided effort.

Well-established player starting at his position (Luis Perez), who seemingly has played OK. That combined with not enough games for him to get an opportunity (Copa del Rey doesn't start up until December) means he is stuck on the bench.

The problem in countries with great weather is always the economy. No one wants to work when it's so beautiful outside.
