Shani Simpson Someone posted this article in another forum. It's by Allan Hopkins about pikcup games in the San Francisco area involving top-level players. This sentence jumped out at me: On the right is Shani Simpson, who has been in and out of MLS camps and combines and is off to DC United next month. Quick Googleing brought up a guy who plays for the San Francisco Glens, a top amateur team out there. He had played for the SF Seals on their Open Cup run a few years back.
Midfielder from what the article says, but some game reports I found list him as a defender. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q="Shani+Simpson" is the Google search link
Shani who? In the middle of an otherwise interesting but innocuous article on Fox Sports: http://foxsports.lycos.com/content/view?contentId=846922 "On the right is Shani Simpson, who has been in and out of MLS camps and combines and is off to DC United next month" So who is Shani Simpson?
Google says he's a former San Francisco Bay Seal MF who's dabbled around MLS with Chicago most notably. Probably nothing to get too excited about.
### MODERATOR'S NOTE ### There's already an ongoing thread on this guy. I'll merge this discussion into it. Please look around before posting a new thread. It's probably wise to check the first two pages because threads do scroll off this board fairly quickly.
Simpson is a fwd/wing who played for the SF Seals when they made their extended run through the US Open Cup several years ago (was a teammate of CK Brown there-the teams best scoring threat). Pretty sure he was the coach's son. This was the last a saw of him in person. Very fast and elusive but small (kind of a Nunez type player but not as talented). Definitely one of Ray's "fizzy" players. Must be getting old to break into MLS now though.
Re: Re: ### MODERATOR'S NOTE ### Oh man- there would have been HELL TO PAY if THAT OTHER MOD had seen the two threads at once.
