So Coach Stupid dialed down the middle and passed along some interesting stuff:

On the other end of the field, Buddle -- in just a half of action -- scored two goals.

"For the game, he could have had five goals!" Andrulis said. "He hit the post on three seperate occasions... it was unbelievable. He had a good game and is feeling better, that much was obvious...."

On his second goal, it was Simon Elliot serving a free kick into the penalty area, where Chad Marshall knocked it down and Buddle finished with a one-timer....

One point that he seemed particularly pleased with was that two Crew goals came off of set plays. On both occassions, it was Simon Elliot who served the ball.

"This early in the season, it's very enouraging," said Andrulis. "Part of it is simply that Simon serves such great balls. Chad Marshall is obviously very dangerous in the air, and he was able to get the better of the guys that were marking him most of the day...."

On Elliot's second assist, it was young striker Michael Ritch who got above his mark and drove the ball in with a powerful header.

"He just went up and out-fought the defense to get that equalizer, and it was in the 85th minute to boot, said Andrulis. "Michael is making a case for himself, no question about that. Forwards get paid to score goals, and he's clearly been doing it."

"Right now, we really do have some battles going for spots," he said. "Jamal Sutton is really pushing Ross (Paule), and Steven Herdsman is driving all the defenders crazy. Chris Wingert is also a terrific player. When you start looking at who didn't play on Thursday, the bench isn't looking too bad...

Clever - our tactics were Vague last year, too. Anyone think it's a little late to be scouring the depths of Europe for players? Seems to me I read about a game in April....

Are you kidding? It's never too late, just look when we picked up that starlette Mark Williams!

As much as they have been working on team chemistry and all that sorta thing, the only thing that worries me about grabbing a Euro, is that he's probably in season right now, but come August, he's going to be burnt out from playing games for over a year straight.

I'm not sure when they have their seasons in Costa Rica, but would it be the same case when signing players from that area?

La Apertura goes from the middle of August to the end of the year.

La Clausura goes from the beg. of Feb to the middle of May. However more recently I believe they have been starting in the middle of Jan.

So...from August to May they are having their season.

BTW when Torres came here he was coming at the beginning of their season.
