Pretty good pregame article from today's SF Comical. Well, at least the title caught my eye when perusing the Chron at lunch...
Kudos to any newspaper that has a pregame article on the day before a Quakes match. Without Ruiz, Galaxy would be in 4th place in the division. Give us a good away win, and then a good home win.
Have the radio stations been announcing road games in the past? I don't seem to remember them doing that. But when I got to work and flipped on the radio, they were announcing the local teams' games this weekend. And the Quakes were the first team they mentioned. I've heard the ads they do for home games. But this is the first time I've actually realized that they announced the road games.
"They (the Quakes) might be able to take comfort, though, in the fact that the Galaxy -- who visit Spartan Stadium next week -- are almost as bad a road team, with a 4- 8-1 mark." here is to 4-9-1....
So true. If only they'd do this for the HOME matches, maybe the attendence would continue to climb. I truly think the "publicity" the Quakes get in the Saturday morning sports section is next to worthless. In the Friday sports, it's actually quite valuable. It gives people close to 36 hours to get their act together to decide to attend a game.
I'm starting to like this Dwait Chapin guy. I've gotten used to seeing his name instead of "ASSOCIATED PRESS" which is a good thing. He rocks! An article before game day=awesome. GO CHAPIN! GO SF CHRONICLE! GO EARTHQUAKES! TRANFORM MARI
Couldn't agree more. John Shrader on KNBR often hypes the Quakes upcoming games on Fridays, and I think that's a good thing since much of KNBR's audience lives nowhere near SanJo. Hopefully this type of matchday eve coverage is going to be a trend in the Chronicle... ...and I agree that Chapin's coverage is often superior to that of the Mercury. The SAN JOSE Mercury. Ugh.
