La LFP es la que organiza el campeonato de Liga, y tiene un reglamento que en el artículo 22.1 establece que los miembros de la junta directiva de la Federación tienen sitio privilegiado y establece que el presidente del equipo visitante también, se juegue donde se juegue. Yo soy el presidente del Sevilla, elegido por la totalidad del capital social, y voy como presidente del Sevilla, porque es mi obligación y mi deseo, y más cuando se está calentando de la forma que se está calentando". Insiste Lopera a la hora de lanzar dardos al Sevilla, ya que considera que están desmedidos ciertos triunfalismos del eterno rival. "Desde que Lopera es presidente del Betis, el Sevilla ha ganado cinco partidos, el Betis tres y ha habido ocho empates. Es que aquí se adjudican los empates como victorias", asegura. Del Nido, que ironizó diciendo que su madre estaba muy contenta por ser llamado Benavente, ve en todo esto una trama: "Esto no es cuestión de un día, es una campaña que data de quince o veinte días, en la que diferentes jugadores, los técnicos, el presidente y varios de sus consejeros llevan desaforadamente intentado provocar la reacción del presidente, los consejeros y los jugadores, y entendemos que eso no lleva a ningún sitio". Lopera también se quejó de que Del Nido no llame por su actual nombre al estadio bético y siga refiriéndose a él como Heliópolis o Benito Villamarín: "Algunas personas no llaman a las cosas por su nombre por envidia o soberbia. El señor Benavente fue bautizado con agua bendita, pero el estadio Ruiz de Lopera también lo fue, y además por un arzobispo que hoy es cardenal y príncipe de la Iglesia. Eso debe saberlo el que va a la Universidad. Yo no pude ir y tuve que aprender en la calle". Pero Del Nido se explica en la Universidad Pablo de Olavide: "Eso tiene su razón de ser, el presidente del Athletic vino y dijo Benito Villamarín, porque desde chico lo denomina así, y está ubicado en Heliópolis. Si a nosotros nos dicen el campo de Nervión, no nos ofendemos. Y digo Benito Villamarín porque siempre me ubican en la zona antigua, pero no lo digo con ánimo de ofender, en absoluto". El 25 de junio de 1981, Guillermo de la Rosa y María de los Ángeles Serrano, padres del niño que estaba en brazos de su abuela junto a la pista de Kansas City, hicieron doblete. Ok I was a bit off, but not my much. If it wasn't for the brilliant play (yes I will give some credit to a Sevilla playa) of Notario, Betis could have scored at least 3 goals. Yes, Betis didn't control the flow of play that I would like. Yes, Betis had some problems in the back, but the Bottom Line is that Betis won & shutout Sevilla. So I will light up a fat ass cigar & drink some Black Velet whisky for this win. Hell, it's not every day that Betis gets to punk Sevilla.
As always, the team that scores the most goals deserves the win. My hat is relunctly off to you. Around town the Beticos were blowing their horns and singing Betis´ praises, which is understandable considering how seldom the Ugly Green win in the Derby. Just finished watching the match and that curse (10 years at home and 8 years overall without a win) is over and Betis is still within striking distance for a CL slot, plus a slot for the Copa final so this is a big week for Betis! I've never had the opportunity in watching a Sevilla derbi until yesterday's match. Have to say that the game was definitely captivating as I watched it with a lot of interest despite knowing the score (watched it on Gol TV's replay at 1 am). That says a lot as I have little patience with football matches once the score is made known. Asuncao and Joaquin certainly impressed for me. The Sevilla youngster Navas looks to be in the Jose Antonio Reyes mold and he certainly has a bright future. Julio Baptista's fanned shot from a Navas pass in the first half could have made a difference. But in the end, Balompie prevailed to their credit. It's no wonder that this team pushed Barca to their maximum limit at the Camp Nou. One thing I noticed during the game. I'm not a fan of the camera angle at the Lopera Stadium. It's much too low and it was hard to make out the play on the farther end of the stadium. Moot comments though cause the win is what's the most important to los Beticos.
I guess there´s a silver lining in every cloud. At least Joaquin will escape Lopera´s harem to take his rightful place of greatness.
No no, I said that because Joaquin claimed before the game that he would not leave until he won a derbi. He just did. Oliveira looks pretty solid, you are right, but not for Real Madrid the way we are covered. Barcelona is looking for a replacement for Etoo though. I would not like it if he moved there. Joaquin has not playing decently in quite a few games, I think he already has his mind set elsewhere, but he is a world class player, and to me much more important than Oliveira still.

So you can dream about takin' a Betico, cause Real Madrid needs all the help they can buy. Real Betis 1-0 FC Sevilla: SEVILLE, May 7 (Primera Liga) - An early goal from Ricardo Oliveira was sufficient to settle the Seville derby in favour of Real Betis on Saturday evening. The rivals from the Andalusian city have stormy relations even at boardroom level where the two presidents do not get on. The quest for Champions League football has further heightened tensions between the two teams this season but in truth Betis looked the better side on the night and deserved their win. Sevilla remain in third after this setback but Betis are now in the running although they are contesting fourth spot with Villarreal who have a game in hand. Betis took the lead in the eighth minute of the first half with a virtuoso goal from Oliveira. There seemed little danger when Oliveira picked the ball up on the edge of the box and drifted across the outside of the area patrolled by several Sevilla defenders. However, the Brazilian fired in an angled left-footed shot from 20 yards which found the left-hand corner of the net defended by Sevilla custodian Antonio Notario. Oliveira could soon have added to the tally when he failed to find the target after Notario spilled a shot from Denilson. In the second half, Sevilla did their utmost to get back on terms. They won a free-kick in a dangerous position and Julio Baptista lined up to have a crack. However, the burly Brazilian was wayward with his shot to the derision of the Betis fans. There was a moment of panic in the Betis defence when goalkeeper Antonio Doblas and his defence allowed Uruguayan striker Dario Silva a sniff of goal. However, Silva's shot missed the target by a whisker. Betis were looking dangerous on the break with Joaquin Sanchez wreaking havoc on the right flank. Next his header narrowly missed the target with Notario clutching at air. Sevilla were finding it hard to keep the ball as Betis knocked it around with confidence in midfield. Baptista then lost the ball in the Betis penalty area but as it was cleared Oliveira bore down on the Sevilla goal but scuffed his shot. Seconds later Sevilla had another chance to kill off their city rivals with Joaquin bursting through after exchanging passes with Miguel Fernando but Notario saved with his foot at the expense of a corner. Betis looked to be controlling the match with Sevilla finding it hard to make any impact against a green-and-white defence that was defending in depth. Oliveira had a golden chance to clinch the match after 84 minutes as he collected a long ball and beat his marker but he toe-poked just wide. He was immediately substituted to the applause of the Betis fans who were confident that his early goal was indeed the match-winner. There was still time for Doblas to save a speculative shot from Baptista and Sevilla won several late corners but the Betis defence withstood the late onslaught and duly secured a famous victory.
