Great Stadium: http://www.uefa.com/footballcentral/News/Kind=2/newsId=59292.html C-ya to the coach: http://www.uefa.com/footballcentral/News/Kind=2/newsId=59364.html I wonder who will replace him? At least they let him coach at the opening of the Stade de Geneve. I wonder if there was an untimatum? Win against YB and keep your job. Loose or tie and its gone.
Servette just named Andy Egli as their new coach. Egli last coached Waldhof Mannheim in the 2nd Bundesliga.
He has a difficult job. But Servette is only 6(?) points out of a spot in Europe, with a game in hand. Changes have to be made there, but it is still possible.
Servette still has a few loose ends to tie up with Mannheim and then Egli is theres for good. Turns out he played for Servette in the 92/93 and 93/94 seasons. Was formed at GCZ and played for Xamax and SFC. Participated on the 94 WC team. Coaching: Thun 3.5 years (went from 1st league to LNB under him) Luzern 2.5 years Mannheim saved the club from relagation, lost lots of players, lost first 4 games, put on "mis en conge" vacation by the club, but still on their payroll.
It seems that Egli won't be the coach until at least the end of the year. That leaves SFC in a difficult stuiation. Do the get an interm coach or go for someone else. The two leading canidates are: Adrian Ursea (an assistant for the last two SFC coaches) Henri Stambouli (former coach of CS Sedan)
Despite the good run that Servette has made this spring, they don't have a perminant coach yet. A decision will be made by May 26. The leading canidates are: Alain Geiger (Aarau) Gérard Castella (ex-St-Gall) Andy Egli (ex-Waldhof Mannheim) Marco Schällibaum (Young Boys) Egli was the one they wanted at first. Geiger has done a great job at Aarau and seems to have the lead for the job. Schallimbaum has just recieved a new contract at YB and has done a great job with them.
