In this thread you’ll be able to see every weekend game ratings of all players for the entire decade of the 1980s. The fun part of it is that Guerin Sportivo used to hand out podium awards too (around the mid 1980s) with top 10 weekly performances, with the top 3 being awarded a gold, silver and bronze medal. At the end of the season the player which featured the most in a top 10 was then chosen as the best player of the season, in a cumulative final ranking. We must understand for newer generation readers that Italian sources used to be very strict with their grading system. They rarely used a 9 and probably never a 10. An 8 or 8.5 was considered excellent but few could reach that level. The norm used to vary between 5-7. Now we will be able to witness who was generally considered the absolute master of each year and of the decade in Italian league football. Note: some editions may be missing but for the most part the majority will be made available.

So I will start off with the 1980-81 season. Unfortunately I’m missimg the first two rounds of league play, so will start off with round 3.
In addition Guerin Sportivo provided Foreign player ratings from different Italian publications of each round in this season. Round 3:
The excellent information of these sources is that it also provides the total amount of spectators and a concise explanation of the events of each match.
