this story has a few more moves, mostly in Serie B...including new coaches at 2 relegated sides...

Torino gets former player and Triestina coach Ezio Rossi (who has taken Triestina up two levels and almost to A this year)..while Atalanta also has a new coach.

    Interestingly, Donadoni has left Livorno...

Huh, wonder what made Donadoni decide to leave? He must have something else lined up. Wonder if Milan has a role for him ...

The new coach at Atalanta is Andrea Mandorlini, who is moving over from Vicenza. The announcement will be made official on Saturday.

I'm curious about Roberto, maybe he did enough at Livorno to have a lower level A club interested in his services?...Reggina or Empoli?

Surely it would have been better for his career to stay in charge of Livorno than take a minor role at Milan...

I dont understand that move, why is he coming to a Serie A if he failed to bring Napoli back?

Napoli has way more problems than their coach. In fact, he was fired early in the season, then they rehired him when it looked like they were going to go down. He ended up "saving" Napoli from C1. Colomba did very well at Reggina. The other current choice, Cammolese, was also fired - from Torino. There simply aren't any great coaches available, who want to coach at a team like Reggina. They either go with somebody inexperienced - or they go with somebody who has SOME experience (both good and bad).

Reggina has confirmed they are re-hiring Colomba.

    Other tidbits in the article:

Napoli is replacing Colomba with Andrea Agostinelli - moving from Ternana and formerly Piacenza's coach. Poor guy.

And ex-Roma, Lazio, Napoli and Salernitana coach Zdenek Zeman has resurfaced yet again, this time as coach of newly-promoted-to-Serie-B Avellino.

Zeman was unemployed last season, who promoted Avellino to Serie B?

Zeman WAS employed for a while this season, by Salernitana. They eventually fired him but could still not be saved.

BTW, ex-Inter coach Gigi Simoni has rejected a switch to Napoli and will remain at Ancona, who he just brought up to Serie A.

Salvatore Vullo coached Avellino this season. He was fired after the season due to some differences with the club's management.

I wonder why more recently retired players aren't given shots to manage at B or lower A clubs...Mancini has had success and Donadoni did fairly well at Livorno...there should be more...

I think part of it is the strict licensing procedures that coaches in Italy must follow. I remember there was some snafu when Mancini, was it? was set to start coaching because he didn't have his license, and he had to coach from the stands while some procedure was forced through quickly. Actually, I may be thinking of David Platt when he was briefly at Sampdoria, but whatever ... Certainly, some players must think ahead and get their coaching licenses while they're still playing.

There ARE some pretty big-name coaches out there that (I believe) are currently not with any team. Alberto Zaccheroni ... Marco Tardelli (where IS he?) ... Gianluca Vialli (and where is HE?!) ... but these guys probably demand way too much money for these little clubs.

I agree about their salaries pretentions.

Tardelli coached Inter not so long ago, it was his last job?

I don't think Tardelli has had a head coaching position since Inter, no. I don't think he did a half bad job either. After all, even Lippi couldn't make a mark there.

More news from the Serie B ranks:

Napoli (OUT: Franco Colomba - to Reggina, IN: Andrea Agostinell, who was fired by Piacenza during the season).

Verona (OUT: Alberto Malesani - to Modena, IN: Walter Salvioni, from Cosenza. Previously coached at Nice in France and was for six years Parma's primavera coach).

    And filling in some gaps:

Atalanta - OUT: Finardi, who had replaced Vavassori. IN: Andrea Mandorlini (from Vicenza)

Ascoli - OUT: Pillon, IN: Dominissini.

Torino - OUT: Renzo Ulivieri, IN: Ezio Rossi - from Triestina).

Correcting myself here. Marco Tardelli is actually now coaching at Bari in Serie B. He took over mid-season this year. I guess I'd missed it ... glad he is coaching somewhere. I hope he takes them back to Serie A because I thought he was given an unfair shake.

Capello is looking more likely to be on his way to Real Madrid after they fired Del Bosque. Sensi refuses to fire him because they'd have to pay his contract anyway, so they're hoping he goes. Then Roma would hire Mazzone ...

I read somewhere that Ancona may consider Roberto Donadoni if they cant lure Mazzone to fill their post...

they deserve to go right back down after firing the man who brought them into Serie A...

lol Sue already posted it, but it's funny (and although both reports say the same) how italian is translated in different websites:

Yes, this was actually a more accurate translation than the "I would jump for joy" comment attributed to Sensi in the channel4.com article. My husband cracked up when they showed portions of the interview on SportSera, and I asked if he'd said "jump for joy", and he said no, he said he'd do a flip or something, so somersault is definitely closer. You have to admit the image of Franco Sensi doing a somersault is pretty amusing to consider. :)
