He is so much better on the right both offensively and defensively. Being on the left allows him to cut inside w/ the option to shoot w/ his dominate foot but he doesn't score enough to make it worth it IMO.
On the left, his job today was to get the ball to Leao and either stand by for ball support or run to occupy a defender. Not much more than that.
That was his job in Barca on the right too. Would like to see him play for a team where he is the #1 option at RB and expected to do a bit more on O. Really bummed he didn't move to BVB. It seemed like a perfect spot for him this season.
He's said he's ok playing LB or RB in another interview, couldn't find the source on YT. Also: https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/ser...ni-leao-e-calabria-firmano-la-rimonta-1779208 Always very proactive on the left wing, he accompanied the action by creating dangerous crosses towards the center of the area. 6 All in all he did well.
He's playing with himself. (Not sure that came out right.) He doesn't read the game well. There's no fluidity. Doesn't understand his team's/teammate's rythm and positioning. While I've been against playing him on the left, it does keep him back further which means there's a greater chance he'll be back far enough on counters. Silver lining.
On the bench for the Super Coppa: XI OFICIAL DEL MILAN #MilanInter #SupercoppaItaliana Se confirma a Kjaer y Messias como titulares en lugar de Kalulu y Salamandra, el resto es lo mejor disponible en cada puesto. Subs on trailing 3-0: AC Milan @acmilan 79' Dest replaces Calabria #MilanInter 0-3 #SupercoppaItaliana #SempreMilan @ENEOSUSA
Reports are saying Milan currently doesn't want to exercise the buy clause for Dest, but will make final decision after the season. A message to Dest through the media to pick it up, or just an honest response to a question? Would be nice if he could find a club that actually wanted him.
who knows what the real story is. Italian teams are having money troubles and Dest isn't exactly making himself irreplaceable. From what I've seen, Dest offers a very mild upgrade from what is already on the books at Milan.
Dest hasn't been bad at all for Milan. He's played well, at times. But due to the loan and the option to buy, he's just in a position where he needs to be really good to stick around. He hasn't been at that level, at least not yet. He needs to raise his game from where it's been.
Obviously. I meant I want him to find club that thinks his play deserves it, which probably means a step down. I wasn't trying to imply that Milan should want him...as others have said, he's been OK but not good enough for them.

Theo Hernandez is out injured. That's what opened the door for Dest. But an opportunity is an opportunity, regardless
Maignan being out makes a huge difference. Not only with his distribution as a keeper but also organizing the team. It'd been a big talking point about how the defense is getting frustrated with Tatarasanu as a lot of goals are on him. But especially with Theo out the team is just too reliant on Leao to create
Theo out is big, but they've been giving the ball up super-cheaply all over the field. Like they didn't expect to have a game today. Really having trouble connecting passes. Lazio is playing pretty tight too, which doesn't help.
What a terrible performance from Milan. They look to be in disarray... but have to give credit to Lazio who have played amazing soccer. Announcers during game and at half going out of there way to grill Dest terribly for the 2nd goal. It is like they don't understand how soccer works. If you are a single defender asked to defend to offensive players in space then any play you make to stop them needs to be considered good to great. Halftime guy says he doesn't understand why Dest is mad but it is clearly at Tonali for not closing down on Pedro with the ball so that Dest could gain a step on the obvious pass that was about to occur. All that being said, Dest started out fine... even kept out a goal in my estimation but overall he wasn't great today. Announcers badgering him about his D but I think he needs to do more on O when he gets his chances. Totally disappointed when he got the ball far side in space and just left the ball behind. Also could have done better with his forward passes IMO. Clearly a better RB than LB.... but not good today. I don't think anyone on Milan has been good at all. 4-0 in the 88th minute? Yikes.
