does anyone take SEPTA to the Union games and have any complaints about it? Trying to find a way to get to PPL Park w/o a car...

    Thanks

Check the River End thread for a massive discusstion on this. In short, it's not a great system, but the team will bus you to and from CTC (the stop before Highland Ave). As long as it's not an 8 pm Saturday game, the wait for the train is usually 1/2 hour.

I do it many times but its a pain in the ass, especially the way back. If you are in south philly you can take the bus to the Chester Transportation Center from Broad & Snyder. I usually do this since is closer to me but it does take an hour.

you'll be cool. just remember that from TU to Center city it will be a different named train that switches to the delaware one sometimes, but you don't have to get off the train same thing coming back. you'll be ok

I haven't taken SEPTA to a Union game but I am familiar with TU and their train station. If you are going to a late game you might want to take a look at getting off the train in center city and taking the subway back. Unless it has changed drastically since I went there in 95-96 the TU train station is off campus and I wouldn't suggest walking alone from the station to the dorms late at night. The subway is at least right on campus. Now I could be completely off base as I know TU has been changing that campus practically every year and it may be more campus closer to the rail line where as before it was a couple of blocks of non campus before the rail line.

is not like it used to be. I graduated in 2003 but have been back in the past 2 years to take a grad course is not like it was in the 90s, he'll be more than ok. there is even a dorm 10 feet from the station. if not he is going to the wrong school.

you'll be fine. like i said, from TU to CC the train might have a different name so just be mindful of that as it swtiches to delaware in CC. coming back you won't even know it changed name since you will be in the train. and that is not even all the time. Good luck at temple. went there from 1998 through jan 03. be more scared of that. :)

if you ever feel like saving money. take the broad st line to snyder ave and catch the train to chester from there. can't remember the bus #. Chester TC is the last stop.

Don't use the Highland Station. It's not a station, it's a porch. I'm not sure the train actually stops there, rather it probably just slows so you can jump off on the run...plus you'd be the only one there...

    Here ya go:
    http://www.septa.org/schedules/rail/s/WIL_0.html

Getting to the games is pretty nice actually. For a 4 pm game, get on the train at 2:23, switch to the shuttle at 3:07, and be in the parking lot for a beer, er, soda, a few minutes later. The way home is much more annoying (shuttle buses getting stuck in traffic + poorly timed trains), so if I were you I'd try to find a new friend you could drop you off at a subway stop in South Philly.

Nice, thanks for the update, and damn, now I feel old. I just remember leaving at 7 one night in the winter as it was getting dark and thought that I would hate to do it much later. Glad Temple is buying up more land and now has a dorm right there. Makes taking the train a whole lot better. Now the Sub is probably not the choice to go then.

yeah the coming back is the PITA. you are either rushing or waiting a long time.
