Why go to England? Why not goto Spain or Italy? The quality of English football is going down just like every other English sport. England have already had thier glory days.
Hmm... One would argue that while English football has suffered a decline in quality, the Premiership (with its multitude of foreign players) is still a very good league for Asian players to play in. And after the Perugia-Ahn debacle, I don't think any Korean would WANT to play in Italy.
I think Seol get better footballing education in England (although not w/ Tottenham or WHam, he needs to go to a proper football team). I think for the same reason I hope Park JiSung will go to PSV (and whatever comes after, in Europe.) It's just better to progress as a player. All good for thema nd the Korean NT. I'd say go get a better footballing education in Holland even if money isn't exactly up to your demands. Then again, that's just me (it ain't my paycheck, so...) BTW, what do you think about three Chinese players in the Premier League (1 Everton, 1 ManCity and forget where Fax Ziyi is). Do you think these guys are that much better than any of our players, that there are three of them there and we have none so far? Hope to see some of our boys there soon.
I know Chinese players are improving fast in premier league for those who are already there. However, that doesn't mean K-League players can't compete with the World's best. I think our domestic league has the 'potential' to compete at that kind of level. It needs more wider experience and more commercial appeal.
Middlesborough seems be interested in Seol also. Reportedly they sent a scout to observe Seol in Beveren match where he scored one and assisted 3. They were apparently very impressed. Middlesborough is a midtable Premier League team and I think if Seol goes there he will be starting striker for the team. I saw Middlesborough's play and they seem to have few good skilled players.
I agree that Seol playing at Boro makes sense. They have a good long history and just a couple of established names (including striker Alen Boksic, but he is having a mediocre season). The main drawback with playing for a team like that versus Anderlecht is that you will not see any Champions League action, and even UEFA Cup is questionable unless the team improves quite a bit (but which hopefully Seol would help the team do). West Ham is headed for relegation.
"Why go to England? Why not goto Spain or Italy? The quality of English football is going down just like every other English sport. " england is the best top league to develop talent in my opinion. If you are an asian player going to europe in the epl you will learn positioning, tackling, and physical play better than in any other league. Sun Jihai could have gone to another league, but i bet you he wouldnt be as good. The spanish and italian league require more skill.
Fan Zhiyi has already moved from Crystal Palace to Dundee to (Jia A Shanghai club other than Shenhua) and most recently to Cardiff City.
I don't see the problem of Seol joining West Ham in the summer if they manage to stay up this season. They are a club with an empahsis on youth, with the likes of Joe Cole, Jermain Defoe etc... They also need new strikers with Di Canio destined to leave and Ferdinand's contract ending in the summer. Seol has established himself in Belgium and is bound to get lots of playing time if he joins West Ham, which is what he needs. and I'd love to see a fellow Korean wearing the claret and blue. west ham will survive, you'll see
If West Ham stay in the EPL -- I hope they do -- then I would enjoy seeing him there. I hope that his riding the pine lately has not hurt the interest in him that teams in the England have.
Actually, I haven't heard much about Seol lately. It seems he's lost his spot on the starting lineup. Does anybody know a good English or Korean site where I can follow the Belgian League? Also, does anybody think Seol will move to Holland instead? I still hope he'll earn a move to West Ham.
Is Seol's move to Tottenham going to happen or what. I've heard from other people that the move will ALMOST happen. Wtf does that mean.
