Malago definitely likes to yap. Doesn't seem to me like if Pep says no this is going to wrap up real soon like Malago suggested earlier. We will see.

I think they all want Pep and Pep prolly wants it, but it all comes down if he has the energy or not as even a year ago he was contemplating leaving City for a break.

If it’s taking this long, it means he’s considering it.

If he would have said no we would have already had our next coach.

I was thinking the same thing, gonna be interesting what happens. It would be brutal going to Pirlo if he says no though.

The man said no already numerous times, now they're playing the "think it over for a couple of days" approach which is going to result in the same answer: no. Wasting all this time instead of making changes, look at how quickly Germany reacted and made coaching changes.

I was listening to Schira and Sabatini this morning and they made this point. If we don’t get Pep, anyone who comes in looks like second choice and a loser. Which is true in a way.

But at the same time, who cares

It also took many days for Maldini to go from a no to a yes. It’s negotiations

In that case the only guy who wouldn’t care is Mancini, he has something to prove it seems like. He’s a double reject lol

for sure he clearly wants to take time for himself but at the same time if he can be the Cruyff of Italian football his legacy will go even above and beyond where it is now. That is clearly tempting. If we were in a good place it might be less tempting. He can change history here with a part time job to boot.

    It's his wife

Thinking about it more now... I'm not too crazy about Pep working out of Barcelona while being CT getting reports from watchers at the stadium. I think this is a job you need to be in the country watching the league. I don't know if the DFB or Germany fans minded when Jurgen Klinsemann was Germany Manager while living in Southern California. I know they didn't have to qualify for 2006, but they still had to compete in the tournament and be in good form at their home WC (which they did).

From what I understand Pep and his wife briefly separated before reuniting. A report indicated it was because he secretly signed an extension with Man City. He's probably not tired, likely she wants to move back to Barcelona after 10 years in Northern England. Boh.

From what I understand she's into fashion design. If I was Malagò I would get her a job with their partner, Armani, who is their outfitter. Just get her a f****** office in her industry and keep her happy. I think one of his daughters is a model. Make some calls in Milan and keep the model daughter happy. Maldini and ex-model wife know people. The other 2 kids don't know. I think they're old enough to be on their own. They're not at delicate ages where they need their father at home. His children are probably out of his house anyways.

Not to be insensitive, but the wife might be a little bit unreasonable. She should want to make her husband happy.

If I was a betting man, he wants the job but promised his wife. IMO, he declines.

It's a shame because except for the promise to wifey, the timing works out perfectly.

He averages 4.5 years per job. So this would work for the Azzurri.

For sure, just saying if he turns it down, it's most likely bc he needs a mental break. City has literally been driving him nuts for years:

BTW, for all of us that want Italy to play more like Spain, bring in more technical players and play tiki taka or a style similar, there is no better manager in the world than Pep.

We needed this talk at half time vs Bosnia:

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/aIrSbL1KHF0

Gattuso was too busy hugging and kissing his players.

If Pep was manager, we would've made the World Cup. Think about that when you say no foreign manager has ever won it.

TEMO che non sia cosi dall'articolo

    https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Nazi...iola-italia-maldini-leonardo-trattativa.shtml

Campo ristretto a Guardiola, Pirlo e Mancini?

The bigger obstacle is him rejecting it to keep his promise of taking a sabbatical. Not the money issue. If finances was absolutely an issue they wouldn't have even made a long distance phone call to Barcelona.

A hypothetical. If Pep accepted would you be disappointed? Also, who is your preferred?

I bet the dinners Pep has with Baggio and Luca Toni are better than Gattuso's London dinners.

Italy will announce their CT on Monday or Tuesday.

Likely scenario is Pep calls Maldini on Sunday and says No Thanks. Maldini then calls up his second choice and offers them the job. They of course will know Pep declined. If it's Pirlo, he likely won't have hard feelings as they were longtime teammates. Fabrizio Romano with the "here we go" X post. Then a day later their social media team announces it.
