Yeah, look at Ferran Torres. He did volunteer work when Spain had flooding a few years ago, he takes in stray dogs and nurses them back to health. Not that I care about this but he will speak of his faith in God. Some in the Italy team need to reel it in and improve themselves (as we all do). I know gambling is a disease, etc but it sets a team back.
If Pep is available and he wants to come, sign him quick. England are stupid not to sack Tuchel, and Pep would prolly pick England over us.
I also see Vergara more as a mezzala but knowing Allegri, he will put him right back by mid season
In the end, I think Allegri sees his role being on the bench since he's too offensive-minded and wanting to get forward and score.
I have no problem going for the big one. I like the balls Maldini has to try it. If we waste a week, we waste a week. Nothing much gets done in Italy this time of year anyway. My problem is this concept that if Pep doesn't work out, you go with Pirlo. That's like shopping for a Ferrari and then settling for a Kia. The Kia may be a great little dependable car but it lacks a lot of potential performance. If they are hung up on needed a guy with accomplishments....we have a former CT who isn't half bad.
Le percentuali ad oggi sono basse” pic.twitter.com/Jjs55MRjE6— Guido Olivares🇮🇹 (@Guidolino8) July 21, 2026 We already knew this..... but latest from Fabrizio Romano on Pep and Italy.
Coaching a National Team is like having a year off compared to club duties. It is LOT less time with the team. 10-15 games a year vs 65+ at a club level. Now, if we are tasking Pep to do more than just the CT role, that's a different story.
This is my attitude towards these comments. Italian football needs to turn it around: “Milan’s 7 UCL’s are safe!” “Italy’s 4 Stars Unmatched” Its never“They won their 8th!” “They won their 5th!” This is what it’s like these days— Martino (@MartinoPooch) July 20, 2026
But did you notice the obstacle that Romano said and other reports is that Pep wants time off for his family? With due respect you are the only one who dismisses it because of his wages.
The Latest on Pep Gazzetta says they got the scoop on what was offered to him structurally (not monetarily which is huge of course). Structurally, they did 2 things: 1. They offered a huge contingent of scouts and observers that would visit all games on his behalf so he could spend more time with his family. That may be tempting for him, but for a micromanager like Pep, I'm not sure he would like that. 2. They are willing to let him pick the next Under 21 coach (if he doesn't like Baldini) so that the U21 team is exactly in sync with the National Team. Apparently they gave him all week to think about it.
So it sounds like salary won't be an issue here, but whomever becomes our coach better not remove Baldini.
I'm not saying salary is not an issue. I think there are two hurdles. First, is lifestyle. Maldini has tried to address that. The second one is probably salary. We have no clue what Maldini offered. Adidas is paying the FIGC 35 million a year for the right to do our kit. That's a lot. I'm wondering if Malago went to them and said..."bump that up a bit and you can have Pep on the face of your stuff".
From a business perspective, you have to think Adidas would be chomping at the bit to bring in Pep for the excitement alone, as well. They have had one bust tournament in Euro 24 and a missed qualification so far being with the Azzurri. A coach like Pep would definitely bring eyeballs and excitement which goes beyond saying which would be nice for their investment. Qualification for tournaments would also mean that their merch is not transferred to 50% off racks basically begging people to buy it. LOL. God, that was tough to look at this summer.
Sorry, was referring to this report: https://football-italia.net/report-guardiola-wages-are-not-a-problem-italy/
I just hope Pep makes the decision that is in his heart. Whatever that is will be best for both parties.
