    FWIW.

Maybe Pirlo was the "surprise" Malago was talking about a while back.....

Sounds like we will have closure soon on this according to Gazzetta if the timeline is correct.

I mean Pirlo is a great guy. Smart too. But do we really want to hand over the reigns to him? He had a short stint at Juve, in Turkey and then Serie B with Samp.

On a positive note, he is fluid tactically and certainly never played the 3-5-2 that I recall. He knows the importance of a trequartista and creativity.

On the negative side...he just has no real experience.

I'd rather have Mancini. That said, if we was down to Pirlo or Conte, I'd take Pirlo.

Maldini just made up his mind on the weekend to finally accept the director job.

I would rather Maldini and Leonardo take their time and do their due diligence to get this decision correct in their minds. The FIGC knew what they were signing up for giving Maldini the keys to the car, if you will.

I laughed at the YT video, bravo.

Nice. They should loan him out to Benevento or Campobasso to hone his craft in Serie C next year.

I am going to laugh so hard if Comotto gets more playing time with Milan than Liberali with Como, it prolly won't happen but curios to see what happens this season bc I believe Liberali made the wrong decision.

From Mancini to Conte, back to Mancini, Pioli and then Pep but now Pirlo has entered the chat?

    Deficienti.

Germany picking Klopp right away is a no brainer. It's like if Carlo was avaialble, we should've selected him immediately. Or perhaps Conte. Club winners. It's a good thing we didn't pick right away, bc I feel it would've been Conte then. The longer this goes, I feel Conte will eventually move on, maybe perhaps to Saudi crossing my fingers.

It was worse a few months ago. Each week someone posted here that it was confirmed to be Allergri, then Conte, then back to Allergri and so one. I knew that was all bs.

I agree. Maldini was always going to be the first step, next is the head coach. If I'd have to bet, it'll happen by next week.

Liberali to Como was one of the best transfers of the summer so far regarding italian players

I find the names of Pirlo and Pioli so underwhelming.

I would love to know what hesitations Maldini has on Mancini

    https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Nazi...e-andrea-pirlo-idea-commissario-tecnico.shtml

To be fair, there is no WC to talk about for Italy, and this is the most interesting news/beginning of a cycle in years, lol. Media must be sitting around trying to cram in an Azzurri story where they can.

The truth is nobody seems to really know because the Maldini/Leonardo tandem seem to be doing their due diligence with candidates. They did not have some slam dunk hire clearly they had in their back pocket to announce prior to doing this work.

Reading the tea leaves today the best we can it seems like it would be Mancini, Pirlo, Conte and an outside prayer hope of Pep. Even though I personally agree with others that the longer it goes is starting to make me feel like Conte will go do something else.

This is the same MO that exists for transfers. Teams have their list of preferences and will hit up each club and player to gauge interest and understand the economics of a deal. Just because a team inquires for a player, doesn't mean he’ll be signed. There’s an entire ecosystem built on reporting these rumours. Either the journalists have insiders that leak info or in some cases the clubs go to them directly (Fabrizio Romano).

The same thing is happening here. The FIGC is likely talking to everyone and all the names are getting reported. I really don’t understand the fuss because it’s par for the course

You think they would ask the senior players for input?

Tell you what though. Hiring Maldini and Leonardo gives them credibility for Pep to even pick up his phone. Imagine Gravina calling him? Straight to voicemail.

And yes, as wrote last week, of course the names would be recycled again. Anyhow, they promised the hiring would take place by the end of the week.
