I hope it works out. I became a fan of Fabbian when he was at Bologna, they had a real good season with Calafiori. I hope he can get back to that and it wasn't just a 1 and done.
When I'm building a team for a 4-4-2, I'm looking for skill, speed, and tempo. But, I want defenders that can DEFEND. I don't need soft CBs that are good are good at crossing the ball. I want fullbacks that can overlap, get good crosses in and get their asses back to defend with speed. In the center midfield and I want players that are highly skilled and dictate tempo. On the wings, I want speed and skill. You have to be able to beat your man 1 v 1 in today's game. As a seconda punta playing with a holding striker like Pio, I want a very mobile player that can hover all over and be very creative (like a Del Piero).
I'm a fan of Lipani and his ability to dictate tempo and control the midfield. I like him better than Ricci or Rovella or Fagioli right now. Here is what I'm thinking assuming Leoni is fully fit and in form. I'm putting Di Marco higher up the pitch with less defensive duties. He's backed by a 4 man D with Bartesaghi watching his back and able to get forward and overlap when Di Marco creates space. Inacio is able to play up top or drop back in a trequartista like role. By the way, I think Chiarodia and Comuzzo are good options at CB right now as well, especially with Comuzzo returning to form. Scalvini is good but I worry about his pace. Ahanor is very raw and fouls A LOT. He needs more seasoning.
Pisilli on right and Koleosho on the left off the bench or starting gives us depth. Nice to have a second pairing possibility too with Comuzzo and Chiarodia.
Btw I think that lineup above beats most teams at this shitty World Cup. I'm fckin irate at this WC. I'm walking through Manhattan everyday seeing these other countries' fans celebrating and having a good time while we rot at home. Sono d'accordo. I thought though that they eliminated loopholes so that the minutaggio rules would be hard to get around. To qualify for the youth revenues, teams actually had young players for real minutes. The problem as I just read is that the youth bonus for Serie A didn't change. It's only 1.1% of TV revenue -- or 11.8M Euro. Split among clubs, that isn't going to incentivize anything. Typical Italian games and corruption. Che vergogna.

i don't see it this year. England have troubles building out from the back, that will hurt them vs better opponents. nothing against Croatia they are just older and well past their prime. They were better in 2nd half..but still. i think that will be their achilles heel.
