very clear that the training in Italy is an issue. yes we are playing too slowly but when Napoli gets to europe they are clearly exhausted and look 2nd best against dutch sides with a fraction of their budget. it needs to end. another Conte influence.

A concrete update on Maurizio Viscidi’s youth-development project: On May 27, Club Italia held an Under-14 training camp at the Alpha Center in Afragola, near Naples, involving selected players born in 2012 from several clubs across the region. This was not simply a trial match. The session was conducted under Viscidi’s supervision with federal staff and FIGC Campania coaches, as part of the new Club Italia pathway designed to scout players earlier and place individual technique back at the center of development. The most interesting comments came from Juve Stabia youth director Saby Mainolfi. He recalled that when he began in 1996, admission to FIGC coaching courses required strict practical tests: juggling, long passing and controlling the ball inside marked circles. His point was not that football should ignore modern ideas. It was that Italian football has sometimes followed trends while losing the proper balance. Tactics matter, but players must first know how to control, strike and head the ball correctly. Mainolfi also argued that Italy must stop blaming everything on the disappearance of street football and address deeper problems: inadequate facilities, limited physical education in schools and a lack of courage to trust young players at senior level. The Afragola camp is another sign that the Viscidi project is not merely an announcement. The Under-14 network is actively operating around Italy. The real test will be whether this technical philosophy spreads from selected camps into everyday coaching at clubs and grassroots schools. Every day when I log in and read so many depressing comments about the state of it all. Just depressing this one by Jamie Vardy talking about the dog water sports science that exists in calcio. This is unacceptable. If this is making news that people on a message board are hearing if it, surely these managers will hear of it. And more, so many of these managers and players know each other. Conte managed in England and he hasn't made adjustments to take back to Italy with him? This is right ********ed.
I wish i could be put to sleep for the next few weeks and then wake up when its over. I cant bare it. Things have to change, surely this time things have to change, i never ever in my life want to see us miss another world cup. If its mancini and malago then they have to deliver our country depends on you. My 12 year old son has seen italy play in the world cup, my first world cup was 94 with my dad ironically in america and strangly enough i was the same age as my son and now its come round to america again. We had it all planned the games the time off school if needed, the magic together. My son was so excited and now nothing. The last 2 world cups i have worn my italy top that says there is no world cup without italy then the 4 years we have won it written underneath. Worn it with pride, cant wear it for a 3rd time just cant.
US broadcast is about as unbearable as it gets due to being the host and the extreme sense of entitlement that they seem to think they deserve to be a football nation that matters. They think they're the underdog when in reality FIFA is bending in front of them cheeks open to get the world cup rotated between only the middle east and USA for good. I think Conte is one of the main culprits of this overtraining method. This is why he can't do well in Europe whether he is at Chelsea Juve or Inter. There are many parallel with Italian football now and English football in the 90s where their trialing and 442 tactics held them back. I love the US. It's given me and my family a ton of opportunities. It's a beautiful country full of many freedoms, a strong legal and political system that was well designed (for the most part), upward mobility for those that want to work, great universities, technological advancements, etc. But I HATE US soccer more than anything. Let them crash and burn. The US soccer system is a completely broken pay-to-play system that prioritizes athleticism over skill (and they pay for it all the time). Canada is a different story. I want them to crash and burn because they have no history and yet their fans think they are good. Trying to trash Italy and our 4 stars when they have 0 wins or draws in their whole history is laughable.

Friday, July 12, 1500 was supposed to be a great day, something I would have never possibly ever imagined happening. Italy playing a WC match at the mistake by the lake in my home city. Maybe even head down to the fanfest. Football Gods had other plans. FML. TV viewership will be massive here for their opener versus BiH but it surely would have been the new record had it been versus Italy, I'm sure of it. After 2018 people blamed Giampiero Ventura. After 2022 it was Jorginho's PK and bad luck. But I take solace that in 2026 people have finally understood that there is a problem. Many. Even if that match was winnable. Even if Norway ends of lifting the trophy these problems are still real. Whether they make changes to fix calcio remains to be seen. Palestra and Kayode are both right-backs, they can't play together. I'd play Palestra as staring right-back, and then we have plenty of option for the left back spot: Ruggeri, Bartesaghi, Bernasconi, Udogie, etc.
More winger depth in 2022 but still failed Not to do a deep dive into it just yet but looking back at the previous cycle when Italy used to play with wingers, I'm speaking mainly of 2022, they failed to qualify, I know Chiesa's injury had a lot to do with it. But I'm just looking now if they're going to play with wingers with Mancini, IMO, they're not as deep now with wingers, as they were 4 years ago. The hope is, of course, that these wingers develop in 2 years when qualifiers begin. Of course, could be situation we don't if there is any wingers because italian clubs don't play this system. Reading some comments from non-Italian sites about Italy's lineup and a couple of comments mocking capping Koleosho as he isn't even a lock to start for Paris FC every week.
