I'm a skeptic on Malago`. The Serie A clubs backed him. Is he really going to turn on them and push new rules that force them to develop youth sectors, play young talent, or not buy cheap foreigners?

    This is the biggest problem.

I understand. I've been watching since 1982. I just can't watch this watered-down version with absolute garbage teams there in place of Italia.

Do you find it odd that my favorite world cup iteration is actually the 24 team format?

Many people preferred the 32 team...I think the 24 team tournaments were by far the best and most memorable. Great quality everywhere.

Posted this in the transfer thread, but I think it’s relevant here. It was revealed that Liberali has a tiny release clause of only 6 million. If Como don’t jump on this they are stupid

Proving that there are too many foreigners in Italy.

I hope he does something, I think one X factor is Abodi pushing him. I think the road is gonna be incentives and they’re gonna have to be big incentives. It pushed the serie B numbers up. We need to get back to 50% at least

At the risk of repeating myself the government can step in and hand out massive tax cuts. Every cheap ******** owner will get in on that. My God, there is so many other ways to do it just need to get creative.

I replied to your message but not second according this.

England NT could have a drop off if they don't get their domestic player numbers up.

Listened to a podcast and he talked about what a future Italy Lineup could be.

He said that he has reservations about penciling in Palestra at RB because at Cagliari they played a 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 this season. Adds that if Dimarco is the LB then you really cannot have Palestra in.

    In other words:

    - With Palestra, could Italy have another Dimarco situation but on the other side?

    - Will Palestra be a good RB in a 4? He's only shown to be an elite RWB.

Italian clubs have really handicapped the NT trying to get away from the 3-5-2. This could be a problem.

EDIT: but adds he could also work out and become another Spinazolla given how much he runs and has a high skill level.

I think Palestra is way better in the defensive aspect than De Marco his numbers weren’t bad he got a 7-7.5 rating for his defense, who plays on the left the Bartesaghi or Ruggeri ? If De Marco was used would need Kayode maybe more defensive

Palestra could play RM in a 4231 but I think he could become a proper RB the way Zambrotta did he has the speed and physicality to do it. He is an athlete. DiMarco is a very unusual player.

I really mean it. Italy putting Dimarco at Fullback is absolute suicide. Dunno. Maybe the ********up against Albania 25 Seconds into Euro'24 has given me PTSD.

I know V9 is against this but I say Ruggeri.

My back 4 is: Ruggeri, Calafiori, Gatti, Palestra.

But I do agree with the comment made a few days ago. If Arteta and Mou, managers at top clubs, see him as a Fullback then maybe Thiago Motta and and his manager at Basel are the ones who are wrong. But it's undeniable his most healthy season and best season to date was playing at left CB. Or that just means when he's healthy all season he performs.

I know you could care less but it's actually Bosnian fans and players that need a humbling much more than Canada. Written that, I probably still won't watch it.

Wingbacks can play sidebacks and vice versa, their roles are very similar. The reason we don't want Dimarco starting is bc we have seen his defencies in both as a 4 man and 3 man defense. He can't defend and he can't dribble his man. Palestra is a much better defender and is great at taking on his man. He plays RB for the U21s and was extremely effective at it. After watching Bartesaghi play, he definitely starts over Ruggeri but Calafiori will still be my #1 LB choice, he offers the greatest defensive stability on one side over any other sidebacks. Remember with Mancio, he played one offensive sideback and one defensive. Calafiori is perfect for that defensive role.

    In an ideal world
Vergara leaves napoli and moves to a serie a team that will play him regularly.
Liberali moves to juventus orr another serie a team develops and plays regularly, same with koloscho.
Chiesa and leoni are regulars at liverpool, leoni comes back stronger from injury.
Doumbia has a great season at sporting and stars for italy in midfield.
Tresoldi plays for italy and moves to serie a.
Regianni, mane and inacio all continue to play at Dortmund and star.
The other top talent in serie b and the under 19 and under 17 players play a lot in serie a in next season.
Mancini and malogo make huge strides on changing our football playing the youth and ficing incentives to clubs to play more players. In 2006 when we won world cup 65 percent of players in serie a where italian we need to try and get back to this or at least say 55 percent.

    nah, Bosnians are our friends.

Canada is the one that needs humbling. Asking Italo Canadians to turn in or burn their italy jerseys and support Canada. Them trying to dunk on us when they don't even have a single point in the table in their world cup history. You know how many Canada "soccer" fans i've heard in the last few weeks say they are going to make the semis no problem.

If mancini is the man and he rings tresoldi do we think there is any chance he plays for us. What squad would people pick for september. Would love to see some selections to see what people think and for me to reflect on my selections.

Do we think the likes of baldanzi, colombo, s esposito, miretti, pinamonti will ever get capped? Does anyone think berardi could come back into the fold potentially if mancini comes in?. If adorante plays in serie a for venezia does he maybe get a callup?. Thinking about cacciamani would have him with under 21s for now and hopefullly to play next summer in that tournament. Is there anyway kayode and palestra can both play together i think both are right backs, would be grewt if both could co exist, had looked st this before but csnt remember the response to this.

Like ive said before id have calafiori as LB Leoni and Coppola/Scalvini as CBs, and Kayode or Palestra.as RB. I like Mane and think in the future he could come in as well and maybe start. Bastoni id still have in the squad but has a lot to prove. Really disappointed baldini didnt play a different goalkeeper with luxembourg. Donnarumma rang baldini to say hes available and then plays bkth games, without the call im assuming he plays either the same keeper or 2 different keepers for the games. Seems pointless.calling other keepers anfld not playing them. In friendly matches other keepers should be playing.

I think Baldanzi gets a look, he played well the few times I saw him but the injury set him back a lot once he was gonna start playing more. S. Esposito is a wild card he can definitely take the next step he had some good performances.

Are they talking about the Women's Canadian soccer team? Oh wait, they've had a guy on that team before too though.

I agree. Palestra is athletic enough to do whatever he wants. If a coach tells him to not be as forward up the pitch and maintain defensive duties, he can do it.

I know, man. It bothers me as well that they pulled that shit. They had my support anyways, no need for it. The guy behind it released a video explaining what went through his head, I stopped watching after 8 seconds I didn't want to hear. Most laughed it off but clearly you and I have not. What bothers me more is people turning their shirt in at Cafè Diplomatico for hosting this nonsense. This was an opportunity missed by the Italy team.
