100%. Ultimately, it is all for nothing if the youth does not get developed and fizzles out. But it is such a cop out for some of these teams to critique the "flaws" and "issues" with a young player. They are not a finished product. WTF do you expect?? As you said, they are going toe to toe and simply beating players who are at the top academies in the world. A lot of whom go onto realize their potential, while our players rot away on benches in Serie B. I feel like a broken record (as I know others do over the past years) but it makes it even harder to stomach when the talent is actually there, but never given the proper development path. Thus, players rot away, and the NT suffers.

1 more step for the U17's. I swear Biondini, the Captain, is such an alpha. Before the PK shootout at the centre circle he was holding court to the Referee and his Assistants. Then the Spain U17 Captain arrived and if I didn't know any better it was as as if Biondini was explaining to them how the PK shootout was going to be conducted. The Spain Captain and Referee had a laugh and the Referee had to reel him in and pull rank. Hilarious. Forza Azzurrini.
Sure. In a ridiculous 3-5-2 against teams in a low block with a donkey as a CT, probably. But I agree with a comment TC made, if they qualified it would have taken the burden off them and played more free.
With that lineup it would have been hit or miss, he would have rode those players and that 3-5-2 to the death

Nah, we were always lost even if we qualified. The Euros were the perfect example. Our team was spineless, had no grit, no will to do whatever it took to win. We always looked weak and exhausted. Everytime we got the ball on the wings, we were scared. Never once did our guys say you know what, I'm better than this guy who plays in Serie B. And guess how we lost, they weren't scared providing countless crosses which was a matter of time they would've scored one, which they did. And I don't give a damn Bastoni was out, if he was in they still would've tied us. They were relentless while Dimarco and Politano were scarred. The two Norway games also showed it, never once did we say we are better. If we made the WC, the Swiss would've carved us up just like they did in the Euros. And what's funny is that was the reasoning we brought in Gattuso, to instill that grinta into the group which never manifested. But Gattuso is a bum anyway.
I thought that was all he brought, maybe too much of it but that's in comparison to how checked out they looked under Spalletti's last few games. Gattuso was very poor in his substitutions. In that second game vs Norway, Italy pressed them back for the whole of the first half and were unlucky to not be up by at least 2. Gattuso left very tired Dimarco and Di Lorenzo in far too long and eventually that allowed Norway to come forward with ease. Mancini stopped closing the space on Haaland that he was doing very well in the first half. He tends to check out and go attention deficit too often. Giving Haaland and Nusa space cost Italy dearly. Gattuso wholely incapable of fixing these errors but good at putting sometimes too much intensity too soon into his players. He has a history of doing this. Not a great tactician though.
Incidentally I hate that Baldini gave Inacio 5 Minutes yesterday. So this counts as an Appearance. So when/if he has a barren spell the talking heads will cite something like "he has only 3 goals in 11 games for Italy", and who the ******** will remember he got 5 Minutes but it's considered an Apparearance. Bah, I'm grumpy. I cannot believe it's happened again.

Well that was a review of the game vs Luxembourg where he is playing with players that know how to play right? I've watched the last few Milan games and that was part of the reason I don't think he was ready to take over that side, but your whole team is terrible to be honest.
