I know it's just a friendly but I'm pretty excited for this match, I'm taking off work early so I can watch it. I don't see anything on Amazon Prime either, I'll probably find a stream somewhere online.
I have to admit. I thought there was zero way possible I would give a ******** about a June friendly after failing to qualify yet again. It still stings, nothing will change that. But getting to see some youth finally who could change our fortunes for the future suit up is very, very exciting and positive.
Projected Lineup looks meh. I think Inacio will play versus Greece not today which is the correct thing, if true.
Crazy how anyone can show a bit of interest in this. Who cares never meant so much for these two friendlies
This is probably a bit of a throwback for many in here but I figured i'd inquire. Was just reading an article about politics and football and the topic of Cristiano Lucarelli came up in regards to his Communist views as a player. So my question is was he heavily favored in the pool for the 2006 World Cup and did his political views hinder his inclusion as I see he scored over 20 goals in the two seasons leading up to the tournament.
Hopefully one day we look back at this as the birth of a new generation that succeeds and doesn’t play with fear like the Bastoni’s of the world
🚨 🏟️ UEFA decided to change the home field advantage rule in Play-offs for major tournaments!Until now, the hosts of the Play-off finals were randomly drawn. This ended up forcing Pot 1 teams like 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇩🇰 Denmark, 🇹🇷 Türkiye to play the PO finals in WC 2026 qualifiers…— Football Meets Data (@fmeetsdata) June 3, 2026
I doubt it. I know he played the end of season, June 2005, Friendlies in North America and even scored in one. A match I attended. But even with Christian Vieri picking up an injury and not being able to go to the WC, the best Attackers were chosen. In short, IMO No. Del Piero, Inzaghi, Gilardino, Toni, Totti all superior to him, played on superior clubs all had more international experience. If anything maybe a case to drop Vincenzo Iaquinta for Lucarelli but not really. The 2006 squad picked itself. There was no surprises with the 2006 team.
I’m less hyped about this game than some of you. While I realize it’s a great showcase for some of our youth players, it’s doing nothing for the national team in the short term. Still think there are a decent group of players that were completely ignored this year that also could have used the shine. I find the lack of effort to bring Tresoldi in now baffling. This was the perfect opportunity.
Yeah, in last weeks press conference a journalist pointed out to Baldini that Mancini tried doing the same thing in one match by going with youth and putting in Gnonto and Scalvini. Ended up losing 5-2 in Germany. Maybe if Italy were an old AF team then OK then this would be the new incarnation of them, but Tonali, Richy, Locatelli, Retegui, Gatti likely amongst others will return. Of these Call Ups that have never been Capped before, I can see only Inacio, Bartesaghi, maybe Reggiani, and maybe Koleosho be in September's team.
Hopefully but it's wishful thinking Remember watching Italy play nov 20th 2022 in that friendly which was the opening day of the world cup. truly a depressing day.

Oh God, I didn't realize Comuzzo was on this team. LOL, that makes me miss Bastoni which I didn't think was possible. Every time I've watched Comuzzo he is quite literally one of the worst footballers I've ever seen I've watched him several times and was left questioning if he has vision or depth perception issues.
How long until UEFA realizes tying anything nations league related to WC qualifying is stupidity at its finest? I mean, the existence of the nations league in general is stupidity at its finest so it's twofold.

If I were in charge of the national team, a lot of the U21s would be a part of it. More than you mentioned, I am much more entuasitic about our future players that should be integrated in the senior team now. We tried with our main guys, and they failed, over and over again. We need a change and this is coming from someone who has watched every U21 game, they play the way our seniors should be playing.
As a Madrid and Inter fan, I am very happy Dumfries is going to Madrid and Palestra should be going to Inter. They better not fumble this like they fumbled Leoni and Lookman.
