    For the upcoming friendlies vs Luxembourg and Greece, I'd call up young players (not necessarily under 21, but not over 25) who didn't play much during the World Cup qualifiers. This would be the squad:

    GK: Carnesecchi, Caprile, Palmisani;
    DF: Ruggeri, Scalvini, Ghilardi, Palestra, Bartesaghi, Comuzzo, Chiarodia, Coppola, Kayode;
    MF: Lipani, Pisilli, Casadei, Rovella, Ricci, Ndour, Liberali, Baldanzi;
    FW: Cacciamani, Inacio, Esposito; Cambiaghi, Koleosho, Vergara, Tresoldi;

    Starting lineup:

    -----------------------------Carnesecchi----------------------------
    Palestra----------Ghilardi--------------Scalvini---------Ruggeri
    ---------------------------------Lipani----------------------------------
    -------------------Pisilli----------------------Casadei----------------
    Inacio----------------------------------------------------Cacciamani
    --------------------------------Esposito---------------------------------

    Malago’s preference for Allegri highlights how much of a generational gap there is in Italy. For the boomer dinoasaurs, Allegri is the logical choice only because of his palmares. Trophies he won years ago. It doesn’t matter how he makes his teams play because the most important thing is “the result.”

    Still I can’t help but wonder how much of these moves are political. After this weeks revelations about agent power, I don’t trust anything. It could just be “Allegri’s turn” because someone owes his agent Branchini a favour. One thing is certain, Allegri still remains the darling of the press.

    If you want to imagine how an Allegri coached Italy will look like, picture the same team who faced N. Ireland and Bosnia but with worse XG and possession stats. Roster wise, the only players he’ll add are Fagioli because he really likes him and Gabbia

    Malagò’s plan

    • Rebuild Italy’s competitiveness internationally, especially the national teams
    • Rebuild the Italian talent pathway from academy → Primavera → Serie C → Serie B → first team
    • No hard Italian-player quotas; instead use financial/development incentives tied to real playing time
    • Use Serie B as the main development league for Italian talent
    • Strengthen Serie C/Lega Pro as a true youth-development bridge
    • Expand/support U23 or second-team structures to help the 17–21 age gap
    • Tighten financial sustainability and licensing rules inspired by UEFA models
    • Modernize stadiums and training centers with government/institutional support
    • Protect Serie A autonomy while making FIGC a stronger central coordinator
    • Fight piracy and improve international TV/media distribution revenue
    • Recover and reinvest betting-related money into football development
    • Reform rules around agents/intermediaries, especially involving minors
    • Make FIGC less fragmented and more operational/efficient politically
    • Increase coordination between youth sectors, clubs, and national teams
    • Stronger focus on youth technical development and Italian player growth

    Reported/project ideas linked to Malagò (not officially confirmed appointments):
    • Maldini in a major Club Italia / technical role
    • Guardiola as the “dream” CT target
    • Conte and Allegri discussed as more realistic CT options
    • Possible broader technical reset around the national team structure

    Changes i would make to squad would be leoni if fit for comuzzo who isnt good enough. Senior players to return in september would be calafiori, tonali, barella, locatelli maybe at a push, kean and thats it for me. Donnarumma also but he will be in friendly squad. Would love to see inacio, tresoldi and esposito up front together and then kean to come on. Cambiaghi not good enough either. Tell me more about cacciamani dont know much about him. Does adorante deserve a shot?

    I prefer to think outside the box and I will go down on these hills. if both these options burn the hill I will stay with the hills and burn. I maintain the best options are Montella and Pirlo.

    Followed by Palla and possibly Italiano.

    Is there a world where Baldini makes sense? I have no idea, it's a bit crazy isn't it.

    But is crazy defaulting to Allegri, or is it thinking outside the box? it depends on who you are.

    After this week, it’s hard to believe anything anymore. We always scratch our heads when directors or coaches make bone headed decisions. Now come to find out it’s probably because someone was forced by an agent. I have to be honest, besides Allegri and Conte, ill take anyone with the agreement that this coach can make his own choices and not have Beppe Riso call him up and tell him that he has to call Cristante and Frattesi.

    Milan and Napoli need to give Allegri/Conte everything they ask for to prevent these bafoons from taking the NT job.

    Cacciamani is a pure winger: he can dribble, pass, shoot etc. He is only 18 years old, and I personally rate him, along with Inacio, as the best Italian prospects.
    Here is one of his goals of this season:

    We have a bunch up and coming wingers: Vergara, Koloesho, Inacio, Venturino, Cherubini, Fini, Cacciamani, Rao. None of these guys are scared to take on their man which is what we've been missing. It'll be exciting to see which ones stand out.
