Yeah he was a good #2 for us and #1 when Buffon missed extended time one season. By all accounts liked by his teammates. Tragic.

Farewell, Alex Manninger. That 2-0 win at the Bernabeu will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for being part of the club I love. Rest in peace.

OK, I get that part. The clubs are right where this is concerned. This needs to be changed. I'm always for the player but the clubs need to be protected/ compensated.

Incidentally this can happen also with a foreign youth team player so this must not be an excuse.

Just a few days ago, Alex Manninger:

"Now I'm back to being a carpenter. It taught me about sweat and hard work. And today I'm happy. Football today is all about fashion and business, but I don't even have Instagram, mind you. I'm happy in my peace and simplicity.

Being a carpenter taught me the importance of sweat and sacrifice. Both Conte and Klopp, over time, appreciated this aspect. They told me I was essential in instilling a hard-working attitude in the younger players.

Now in the locker room, people think more about their hair and the posts they need to make than about working hard. Ah, how we miss figures like Del Piero, Buffon, and company..."

i actually think the opposite. if we were to go.. we'd find ourselves into the knockout stages just cause the world cup is so watered down. Which is not what we need cause then they might feel crisis is over.

Obviously I wouldn't want Italy to be given the spot outright. I'd prefer them to win it against other teams entered in another playoff of sorts. Those teams will have earned or failed at it the same way Italy would. I don't see a problem.

I keep going back to Denmark in 1992. Were people outraged at Denmark replacing Yugoslavia at Euro'92? So many Italians online dead set against it but I guarantee you back in June of 92 no Dane was against Denmark being called in. I don't get it.

I just get the impression people would be OK if any other team was given it as long as it's not Italy. It's outright hate, make no mistake about it.

Seems like shit has died down over there. Infantino said he visited the Iran team training in Turkey and the players wanted to go.

After this is over FIFA needs to make clearer wording about replacement teams. "Up to FIFA's discretion" is simply not good enough.

Spalletti winning a scudetto playing the best most entertaining soccer in Europe = bad times.

Conte winning a scudetto by the skin of this teeth playing the shittiest soccer imaginable. Getting lucky relying on other fixtures and Lazio to pull a rabbit out of their hat = amazing.

Gasperini winning the first real European trophy for an italian team in 14 years was also bad times.

I think we need a revolution of players, coaches and fans too because most of you are so stupid

Discussed here at length but Capello on it again, thankfully. Need refs to put away the whistle and start letting them play.

Good to see Grifo still playing well, he will be in the Europa semis as a starting LW which is a position of need for us.

Incidentally, a few months ago Vincenzo Grifo became Freiburg's all time leading scorer (across all competitions) yet inexplicably Italy were playing this stupid formation that had no room for him and that doesn't yield results.

Even if I maintain goals scored wasn't an issue, it was mainly conceding them.

A real shame he is on the other side of 30 and it wouldn't be wise to bring him in now.

Zaccagni was always playing for us, they play the same position and Grifo is better, he should've been playing but Spalletti and Gattuso didn't value him bc he was playing in Germany. Not only does he produce goals but assists as well. Having somewhat of a down year but still 18 goal contributions and playing better lately. We could've definitely used him in the penalty kick shootout as he is a set piece master.

Our LW options are super limited and he unlike our other wingers has always played great for us, I would definitely keep an eye on him.

Relax I was being tongue in cheek. They have been coaching for years though and got very few trophies to show for it. That is a fact and I’m not throwing shade at them.

I bet you still celebrated that Conte scudetto Mr. Visionary.

Start letting them play when the players themselves go looking for the ref to blow the whistle? Serie A players flop worse than NBA players.

They went begging, hat in hand, to Chiesa and who was collecting splinters out his backside and ignoring Grifo.

They really needed to sort this out.
