Can people fcking relax on Ruggeri ? Form is temporary class is forever… Guy is being hyped up so much where was all this talk about him before the Barca CL game ? You know who really kept Atletico Madrid in the game ? Their goalkeeper Juan Musso came up big time in the second leg game. Now did Ruggeri play well of course but let’s not make it seem like Gattuso left prime Maldini at home.
"Gennaro Gattuso has long admired Matteo Politano, having attempted to sign the winger during his time at AC Milan and later identifying him as a key target while managing Valencia. During their time together at Napoli, Politano was a crucial player under Gattuso, with reports suggesting a strong mutual professional respect." Welp that explains it, he was Spalletti's Di Lorenzo. Even though both coaches disgustinly always used Di Lorenzo, at least Spalletti had some common sense not to play Politano even after all their time together at Napoli.
This wasn't a one off, Ruggeri has had a solid season and made Yamal his bitch for 2 CL games in a row. Also, let's not forget he plays in a league decades better than Serie A.
Like I said he played well but let’s not make the guy seem like him not being called up is the only reason why Italy failed. Yamal also provided an assist and got a goal over the two legs so… he wasn’t completely marked out the game…
You’re really obtuse. No one said he is prime Maldini. They’re just saying that he was good enough to be on the Italy squad. In a generation where they say there’s no Italian talent, here’s one playing well in the CL. Instead Gattuso never considered him once and preferred old Spina. Also most of the hype online is coming from Atleti fans.
Sickening to think if Palestra started and Kayode was on the bench. Plus not playing Bastoni put of position what could have been!
Iran gonna give Italy their spot (jk) It's Irans to play. Earned. Have to admit a potential R32 match on the eve of US Independance Day on the 250th Birthday of the US is mouth watering. Dear Italy, Your PM just defended Pope and lost an ally in Washington — the Commander in Grief, yet the most 'powerfool'man on earth. We'd like to apply for the vacancy. Our qualifications: 7,000 years of civilization, a shared love of poetry, architecture, and food that…— Iran in Ghana (@IRAN_GHANA) April 15, 2026
Kinda like my proposed lineup last week but I had Fagioli and Tonali switched and in a diamond midfield. Also, Zaniolo. No Ignacio. For me the potential to have Vergara in 2 spots is massive.
Yes that is the way to go so we can build for 2030. That back 4 has potential to be world class hopefully Leoni is an option and then we will see how Reggianni Ahanor Comuzzo develop but Calafiori Scalvini plus the full back options are impressive for their age/experience at their age and their potential to grow. We need a few more midfielders to emerge. Casadei Ndour are looking like they will become good B2B players but I want someone technical outside of Fagioli to help control the game. Lipani is an option but the rest are still developing. Hopefully Comotto takes a huge step next year.
Can also have a front 3 of Kean--Pio--Vergara with Inacio off the bench..Kean has the pace to play as a LF.
I'm not that concerned right now about engaging in lineup hypotheticals to be honest. There is a system to overhaul. My big concern comes from the SNAKES that are infesting the system and looking to keep the status quo. They already are laying plans to slow things down, make no progress, block reforms, and blame EU law on why they can't do anything. They must be defeated. That's the main priority. This is where Meloni and Abodi have to step in. If the FIGC is just going to install a technocrat as President and cut deals with Serie A clubs (and the lower leagues), then we are dead. Meloni and Abodi should pressure CONI RIGHT NOW to appoint a receivership to run FIGC. But that receivership should make radical structural reforms. Holding another cheesy election to put in Malago will change nothing.
It’s amazing that in the past two weeks, it’s Lotito who has come up with the most sensible approach. The FIGC needs a commissioner to restructure the federation.
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/xBZ1mcU9Nl interesting an Italian coach that learned his trade in Spain…
That interview was posted couple weeks ago. I liked what Lamal said in his Press Conference prior to the second leg when he made a comment that he hoped Atleti set up defensively where he would be man marked because he wanted to take a on Defender 1vs1. When have we ever heard an italian player say that?

Rumours from Rome suggest that the Friedkins are more willing to side with Gasperini over Ranieri. If that’s the case Ranieri is out and free to join the FIGC like that rumour suggested. Ranieri completely wasted his time in this stupid manager role they gave him. I wonder if he regrets not taking the Italy job
