So I’m reading now that everything on that list was something that was put forth already by Gravina (with the support of the Serie A clubs). Was Lotito right all along?
They haven't understood that the best foreigners won't come to Italy because the product is trash. In their heads they believe there are some magical forces in government blocking them that needs to be addressed. The message I posted about Juve paying for Openda comparable to what City paid for Cherki was a little bit harsh on Juve. What the author of that X post hasn't understood is that It wasnt because Juve spent poorly. If they wanted Cherki they would have to pay twice the amount City did. No different how Saudi and Qatari clubs have to pay 5 times more just to go (see Retegui). Or MLS for Insigne.
Where Serie A clubs can’t compete is on salaries. That’s the real economic burden. If this is what they want, that’s fine. The FIGC president has to impose minimum Italian roster and starting spots. Minimum youth sector investments
Lotito ha ragione al 100%. Malagò è già stato Commissario della FIGC. Quale Presidente del CONI avrebbe dovuto vigilare sulla FIGC, è palesemente un uomo di Gravina, è palesemente in conflitto di interesse. Today ADL said a mountain of stupidity in his interview with The Athletic. One of the things was Conte’s future at Napoli. He reiterated that Conte has another year left and that “he’s a serious man who would never abandon me.” If you know ADL this is his usual MO. He’s laying the groundwork for the narrative in the event that Conte splits. This is so he doesn’t look like the bad guy. Conte had complete control of transfer decisions last summer and many of his signings were flops. This summer he wants more investment and “profiles with Serie A experience.” ADL wants to go back to finding the Kvara’s of the world where he can maximize potential without spending too much money. Conte is not going to bite on this. More journalists reporting the rumour that Allegri is in consideration by Malago. As much as this seems crazy, the boomers of calcio think this is a great move. It goes without saying if our choices are between Allegri and Conte, it’s Conte without a doubt. But neither is the correct appointment
#Italia— Stefano Donati (@StefanoDonati27) April 14, 2026
You guys are pulling your hair out over media bullshit. Wait till the people are put in place and see what happens. Everyone and their mother is talking some are current owners saying nonsense on how to fix things well if they felt they had the answer why not implement it at their club ? I want to see if Spalletti does what he brought up next season at Juve.
I agree that Allegri is a better manager than Spalletti and Gasperini but we should also remember that he was only successful at Milan when he had Ibra Cassano Pato Robinho and then failed once the better players left. With Juve he took Conte's project and managed it to great success in Europe because he is a fantastic counter puncher and if he has some quality he can kill big teams. In this sense he would be a great tournament manager for Italy I think he would do better than Conte did in 2016 in terms of making Italy a team that can upset big teams. But his flaw is he can not build a winning project from scratch as we saw in his second Juve run. So of course in this moment for Italy he is not who people want. At the same time the national team can't really lead the charge it has to pick who is available and Allegri would do well in this sense.
That’s on the sporting director to build the team the coach is supposed to deal with whatever is on the field. A coach can tell the sporting director what players he may prefer but it’s on guys like Manna, Marotta, Sabatini… so and so fourth to put teams together
Yes but it goes hand in hand for example Conte is very active in this way and knows how to construct a project that will win his flaw is his day to day management is terrible unless he has a full week to prepare for one game. Conte would be a great NFL coach in another life. Allegri has more balance but he does not have the ability to transform normal players into killers in fact he has the opposite effect he turns normal players into blunt instruments.
Just to give an example of how bad the Serie A has become... On 19 January 2026, Fiorentina signed Englishman Jack Harrison. He is 29 years of age, played college ball with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as well as two years in MLS at New York City FC from 2016 to 2017 with Pirlo. He is on loan from Leeds until the end of the season and has played 8 games without a goal. This is something that would have been unheard of 5 or 10 years ago. I'm sure he will be gone in June but what is the point of signing a player like him? Not sure if the American ownership had anytjing to do with it but I can't believe there aren't equivalent forwards in the Serie B or even C who wouldn't be able to fill those shows for a Serie A side like Fiorentina.
Will they have draftking billboards spread across the various running tracks in Saud stadia? Embarrassing
He still qualified from champions league with a weak roster. Spalletti wouldn't be able to achieve that. Luciano best known for 7-0 thrashing. Oh and getting fired from nt big seat. Juve won't win anything with him.
Allegri represents the last of the gestori (Ancelotti another one). His managerial style and his view of the game belongs to an era where Italian teams had stronger spending power and better domestic talent. This is why he remains a darling of the boomer press because to them, that’s the football they grew up with. But these mother********ers don’t understand a couple of things: 1. The game changed. As much as they deny it, it’s faster. More athletic. More technical. 2. What you lack in individual talent, you need to make up for in tactics and playing style. 3. If you don’t have the money to buy top players, you need to create them in your own house. Now Allegri has said many times that he doesn’t need to tell the players how to play. The DS just needs to buy him good players. He thinks that coaches spend too much time and energy bombarding players with tactics. To an extent he’s correct especially if he is managing a big club. The problem is it’s that it’s not 2003 anymore. When the time comes for Allegri to show ideas he has nothing. Besides 11 behind the ball and playing 3-5-2 what does he provide? Playing Chiesa as wingback? Playing wingers as strikers? When he retires the entire nation will have turned a corner
Yeah but the long term success of any club is based on their sporting director… look at the billions Man U have spent to not get anywhere.
Criscitiello sounds defeated today. There’s no point in bringing Malago in if it’s the same clowns of the Gravina era in the FIGC. Lotito is looking like the most sensible guy in the room
Madrid Zone are reporting that the Brazilian FA are trying to poach a young Spanish talent from the Madrid academy. This makes me think that there was something to the Inacio rumours. 🚨 JUST IN: Bryan Bugarin, considered the biggest talent in La Fabrica, is now in talks to play for Brazil! It could turn into a new "Nico Paz case", where a player plays in Spain his whole life, but because Spain decides never to call him up, he plays for a South American… pic.twitter.com/mGKZBZs27R— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) April 14, 2026
Yes exactly managers like him and Ancelotti need horses to do the work. There is no excuse for his teams creating so little in the 2020s. In the 2010s he had top class players but the teams he has had since with Milan and Juve still had budgets higher than just about every other team in the league and he still can't get any offence out of them or raise a single individual player to a higher level. Even Locatelli improved tremendously when he left.
For sure Argentina also did this with Garnacho and as it was mentioned Paz. Spain and France are now what Brazil and Argentina once were in terms of producing so many players that other national teams bid to take them worth the promise of game time. Germany is the next best at developing players and all the Italians developed there will be up for grabs if we don't lock them down immediately.
I agree that Allegri is above Spalletti who is very overrated because he was innovative and influential tactically but at the end of the day he is not even close to a serial winner. Those Roma sides should have taken titles off Inter when Juve and Milan were down bad he has no excuse.
He made el shaarawy look decent. Turned a 500k into the highest goal scoring midfielder in the league. Albeit for one year. Thiago silva exploded under Mad max. Im.sure there are other examples. Juve haven't gone to a cl final since. Believe me, spalletti will never coach a cl final unless he's playing Playstation
