I'm good with him being there, it's what he wanted, he is still banging in goals, they have a few decent teams over there. He needs to continue being picked for us even if he has a drought like Kean bc there are no other strikers better than those two.
Disagree with Miretti being average especially for 22 and impacting on a team like Juve since he was 18. Kid can play and showed a lot at Genoa last year but the caveat for him is can he stay healthy for full seasons? Seems to always have a few knocks that keeps him out and allows him to get passed over in the rotation. Has a great touch and dribble and is good in tight spaces always plays through balls, etc, an old school attackng mid. And unlike Baldanzi Pafundi has decent enough size at that position.
@TorontoCalabria Not sure if you've seen some of the interviews Jesse Marsche has had recently. Appears as if he was making the podcast rounds. There was one where he discussed how Italians perceive football, how they view the strength of Serie A. One comment that stuck out at me in particular was when he said he would be watching a Serie A game and he would be dumbfounded how they weren't pressing. Went on to say the style Canada play (athleticism, pace, high tempo). If such a match does happen, it will be played out exactly how I always thought it would. It should be noted that one of his criticisms is that he has no Plan B and not tactically flexible.
I was at work and didn't even realize this game was played.... Antonio Arena (born 10 February 2009).... Largo Ai Giovani! Just curious, is he distantly related to Bruce Arena? Aussie teen makes stunning head-start on debut for Roma - ESPN
I do follow your response. I'm of the opinion right now I'm sick of the status quo for the playoffs. I want players in form. You're not playing, you're not producing results for your club, you're not playing. The standard group is weak mentally and soft. They will be weak and soft together in March if we just roll out the same. I want the players who are producing at their clubs as much as they can. I want to try something different. But it's a controversial take.
So in the attack we can all agree that the first 5 candidates, in any order, are these? Kean Retequi Raspadori Pio Scamacca
Serie A is the one league where there is a gentlemen's agreement to let each other pass the half way line. Thing is it's very hard to score in Serie A as is so why would smaller teams change.
his link up play is incredible. his maturity and tactical awareness is amazing for his age. goals will come with game time but he is a great weapon in a two man attack. I would still take him over those with more goals and minutes than him for this reason.
I think Raspadori has fallen down the pecking order while Scamacca has to be near the top. I would probably include Zaniolo as a CF now if we are to play a front two he has been fantastic for Udinese. If we include all forwards include wide players second strikers this would be my depth chart as of now. Retegui Kean Orsolini Scamacca Pio Zaniolo Cambiaghi Chiesa Berardi (if healthy) Raspadori Colombo
Am I crazy, or I swear I see some Altobelli in his game...in terms of being a two man attack and his movement.
no way! its hard to really rate Colombo over Bonazzoli or Pinamonti. Scamacca is just technically too good. Scamacca and Colombo both have 5 goals and 1 assist but Scamacca has done it in 13 apps vs Colombos 20. When we look at minutes it's slanted even more to Scamacca. I hope youre right and Colombo becomes something special beyond an average striker. That would be a great problem to have.
I thought it either hit the sliding Defender in front of him, which is why it bounced upwards OR he hit it into the ground.
I would remove Scamacca, was a big fan of him last year but 1 goal in 22 games for the Azzurri is abysmal. I would just take other 4 guys and make room for another position.
I am trying to understand what is happening to Calafiori. He is still out with an unspecified injury. Arteta says it might be a few weeks to return. Playoffs are coming, in about 2 months. We badly need him. I hope he will be there!
He's starting to annoy me with how frail he is. It's the coach in me. Coaches eventually become frustrated with players that cannot stay healthy, whether it's their fault or not.
It appears like Calafiori will always have these injuries. He pretty much got his leg severed. Went from an injury in training to a "knock" in warmup on the match on the 27th and now called a "muscle strain". IMO, he needs to play at least 3 matches before the Playoff or somebody else has to be called.
Orsolini always produces wonder goals for Bologna, too bad he can never reproduce the same for the Azzurri.
Exactly, we just have to accept that he is injury prone, like a few of our other defenders (Scalvini, mb Buongiorno, let's see Leoni's future). If he is out, you just move Bastoni to his natural LCB in a 3 man defense.
