It drives me mad when players aren't picked on form gattuso has his favourites regardless of how they are playing it seems. Why do italian national team managers never pick the best players it makes me so so mad.

Under 17s look good so far in world cup. Inacio had a big future ahead of him i think. Some other really good players in that team as well. At least unlike the under world cup we have the best players available in that bracket. 2 wins, against not great opposition but still looking positive going forward.

When all fit i like this lineup

    Donnarumma, calafiori, bastoni, leoni, kayode
Tonali, barella, ricci, chiesa, kean, retegui.
My squad would be if all fit
Donnarumma, Di gregorio, Carnesschi, Caprile, calafiori, leoni, coppola, bastoni, buongiorno, cambiaso, kayode, udogie, scalvini, tonali, ricci, barella, frattesi, mandragora, di Marco, orsolini, grifo, tresoldi, chiesa, kean ,retegui, pio esposito, pinamonti.
I think its time to day goodbye to vicario, mancini, gabbia, di lorenzo, cristante, raspadori, zaccagni, politano, scamacca dont want to see any of them called again. Also dont feel bellanova cuts it either and definately no maldini again either. In the future also want to see the young man from atalanta called when he gets his passport next year, also bartesghi who is playing well at Milan, palestra at some point and piselli and camarda. Any thoughts on my squad selection or comments would be good.

Again gattuso is clueless with his selections. I believe with the squad I have selected and potential inclusions in the future we could do well going forward, yet gattuso doesnt see what's staring him in the face. If we all see it why cant he

If Verratti can reach the fitness levels of top level european football he should walk into the team.

If Modric at 40 can do it than so can he. It really depends on him. His skill level is off the charts.

Inacio is an amazing talent but like most young Italians has a small frame that will be exposed once he starts playing with men. It's the same thing with Liberali...he was the jewel of the unders as recently as Summer 2024 but since then has languished at first Milan (where he barely got playing time) and now Serie B.

The Italian team needs to start emphasizing weight lifting and HGH..lol

Liberali, Baldanzi, Pafundi, those guys are tiny. Inacio is not.

[IMG]

maybe im wrong but my gut feeling is still we will get Tresoldi. You'd think if Germany were worried at all losing him ... why wouldn't they have capped or tried to cap him by now?

Del Piero was on sky sports saying the opposite and he’s right. Spain can produce world class small guys like Pedri and Gavi. Our smaller guys are completely discarded.

Berardi, Pinamonti, and Zaniolo do. And all of them have been overlooked for inferior players. Gattuso is a shitty coach with poor squad selection (who clearly is not interested in form at the club level). What does it tell the other players on the team and throughout the country, that a guy like Scamacca can just walk on the team after doing nothing for over a year.

I honestly think this coach has a high chance of botching our WC chances. Personally, I would fire him immediately and bring in Mancini. You get the feeling that guys like Buffon and Bonucci are in his ear telling him to exclude certain guys for whatever stupid reason crosses their mind.

Been saying it for a while that Gattuso is a shit coach, he'll be around until we crash out of qualifying. I would've brought Mancini back to the team but that's just me. Berardi with a brace this morning and Pinamonti gets one as well, Scamacca is better though (sarcasm)

Another stubborn coach, absolutely no reason why Kayode is not called up considering a playoff is guaranteed.. He's a massive upgrade to Di Lorenzo and we will lose him to Niagara.

World Zaccagni or Politano ever score a brace and an assist against Atalanta?

    The Berardi show in Bergamo.

Very nice performance by Nico this morning. Probably his best performance in some seasons.

Unfortunately for us, we’ve never seen that Berardi for Italy. We will probably never see that Berardi for Italy. Why so many people are still in denial of this I don’t know

That is why Berardi has a better goals to games ratio than anyone on the Azzurri not named Retegui or Kean. People just can't forgive his open net miss against N Macedonia and attribute that to his Azzurri career is just hilarious.

I would bring Berardi but only if we were to switch to a 433… then you have Orsolini Berardi Chiesa Cambiaghi and it is good enough.

I think playing with two CFs long term is probably unbalanced unless you play a flat 442 or a 352.

    ————-Tonali———-Barella
    ————————Ricci

    —-Cambiaghi——Kean——-Orsolini

Right and that stat has translated to how many trophies? Not exactly anything to write home about. I’ve listed my grievances with Berardi many times on this forum so I don’t need to repeat myself. I wish for him to get called up by Gattuso and smash Spanish or French defences in the same way he does against Hellas Verona or Genoa. But it’s not going to happen.
